stranger offering kids a ride in Fairfax City
Date: October 31, 2006 09:00AM

Just wanted to put out a quick warning...

My friend lives in Cobbdale in Fairfax City. Her 14 year old son missed the bus this morning and was walking to a friend's house to catch a ride from his father when a hispanic man with facial hair stopped and offered him a ride. He was driving a white van. It may have been innocent, it may have been something worse. Just a heads up if you live in that area. This really did occur, it is not a story meant to scare parents on halloween.

A hispanic man driving a white van in Fairfax. That should narrow it down.

I know, I know, it doesn't narrow it down. Just like the sniper hunt for a white van... they are everywhere.

Still, it was worth putting the sparse info out there just in case there was some malicious intent behind the offer for the ride. Bad stuff happens, go to www.johnniegosch.com to see what can happen to adolescent boys who are abducted. It's a scary world, I hope this thread doesn't get too snarky.

it isn't illegal to be nice to people.

But, in this day and age it is pretty creepy for strange men to ask adolescent boys to get in their van....

The boy was concerned and creeped out enough to tell an adult who did call the police.

Too bad this thread got snarky, I just wanted to let people be aware.

hmmm, imagine that. I had to look it up.

snarky [snahr-kee]
adjective, Chiefly British Slang.
testy or irritable; short.
[Origin: 1910–15; dial. snark to nag, find fault with (appar. identical with snark, snork to snort, snore, prob. < D, LG snorken to snore) + -y1]

There is, like, a word for everything. It is recrementitious.

Sounds like something the crocodile hunter would say, "Oh snarky's, that croc looks really pissed off, let me grab him by the tail and see what happens!"
