Dig some sod otta the Golf Course grass of yours..in two mplaces..Have Country Folk deliver a load of Hickory..Make a Fire Pit about 5 X 5 and burn some logs into coals..Make the hot coal area pig cooking area about 4 X 6 .Put the split pig in a "Wire Turning Rig" made with 2x4 handles attached to the wire. What do you think is best Fairfax County BBQ?

BBQ World in Burke was pretty good.

I don't think there are any really good BBQ places in Fairfax County. I eat at Willards sometimes, for lack of anything else in the area. I like Hill Country on 7th street in DC, one block over from the FBI building. It's Texas style as the name implies.

Local BBQ establishments seem to be going away. I miss stopping at Bill's Barbecue when passing through Richmond.

Oklahoma Joe's is decent...not as good as the original "gas Station" location in KC, but so far solid.

Mission BBQ is OK.

But to get the best BBQ ya gotta drive to the Lightfoot exit on I-64 near Williamsburg and stop at Pierces Pitt BBQ. It is the real deal.

Dixie Bones in Woodbridge. No contest. Best ribs in this area.

I used to enjoy BBQ Country in Vienna next to Cenan's Bakery in the strip where Joe Theisman's used to be.

At the time, I didn’t think you had to look any further!

Mookies in Great Falls

willards used to be good, but the last 2 years I'm always disappointed. Mission is taking over red hot and blue in kingstown, I can't wait to try that out. Pierces on I-64 as recommended is not good either. Sadly, for the best TX style brisket, you have to hit chinatown DC for Hill country and pay out the ass for it (get the "moist").

Hill Country BBQ in DC serves authentic brisket from the Texas Hill Country. I think the guy who opened Texas Jack's used to work at Hill Country. I ate at Texas Jack's once, late in the afternoon on a Saturday, and the brisket was pretty good. I've never had any BBQ anywhere else in the area that approaches the quality of these places. Of course, if you want pork ribs, you're still going to have to settle for the mostly mediocre (but still often passable) stuff from the other local spots.

Hill Country was indeed started in NYC, later opening the DC location, with the goal of serving the style of BBQ that originated in the Texas Hill Country. They succeeded. It's not as good as Franklin (the best of the best, wait in line for hours, etc.) of course or the other top few places in Austin and Lockhart, but it's a very good representation of Texas brisket without having to fly down there. I've been to the real Hill Country many times and have had Franklin, Louie Mueller, LA Barbeque, Smitty's, Kreuz, Black's, etc. You'll find the name of many of thee more famous spots on the wall at Willard's, by the way.

Probably Arthur Treacher's for the best fish and chips. Not sure about BBQ. But for fish, chips, cole slaw and hush puppies... can't beat it. Plus they have an assortment of delicious fanta flavours.
