why is fcps having another two-hour delay?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but I'm confused. Is it because of the temperature? ice (I slipped this afternoon coming back from school)? or to make up for not closing today when everyone else was?

Well, apparently we just "can't" have FCPS pussy students standing out in the somewhat cold weather waiting for a bus which might not come because it wouldn't start because even though there's a diesel fuel additive that helps with cold weather starting, FCPD has deemed it too expensive.
Million dollar turf fields everywhere! But by God, let's not focus any spending on what it takes to actually get kids to fucking school and learn anything...

Transportation, gotta make sure all buses are up and running. 1200 buses is a lot to get going and keep them going after they start. The old weather takes a toll on them.

What is FCPS's explanation for the delay? Lots of 5th and 6th grade Peer Mediators were scheduled for a field trip today to GMU. Due to the delay, the trip is cancelled and all those conscientious students are really disappointed. I sure hope the reason for the delay was a valid one.

Modern diesel fuel is formulated with cold weather additives to keep diesel engines operating properly.
A two hour delay is a small price to pay to keep the students safe.

I lived in Indiana for almost two years. There could be 6 inches of snow on the ground and still snowing, yet schools were always on time regardless of the temps. Furthermore, all kids were required to wear or have boots, snow pants, coats and gloves because they still went out for recess unless temps were below 20°. Kids who didn't have boots and snow pants were required to stay on the blacktop. FCPS needs to grow a fucking pair!

My wife works in procurement for the County. There is a commercial grade of diesel fuel which does not contain any extreme cold weather additives. It's cheaper than the fuel with the additive and THAT is what the County buys. Their rationale is that the weather seldom gets cold enough here to warrant the extra expense of buying that fuel with the additive year round. I completely agree with that however, the county needs to buy an additive separately which can be added when needed. Their rationale for not doing that is that once the additive is exposed to the air, it's shelf life gets very short. Again, all of that is true. Yet, there is a way of managing this to ensure if the roads are clear and it's just cold...buses will roll and kids will get to school and get their education.
As for what my problem is...I don't care to take sass from someone like yourself whose best part ran down their Mom's leg...
