FCPS Middle School Sports

Did FCPS ever have middle school sports? If so, when did they end?

There was boys basketball when I was in junior high. It was fairly informal, and it may just have been a few schools.

I think Washington Irving Jr HS had a basketball team in the early to mid 70s. I was there in 1979 and remember seeing old yearbooks with 7th and 8th grade Boyd basketball teams and cheerleaders, all in uniforms.

Newer idea is now 7th and 8th girls and boys play each other in special "crosstown" basketball games. Thoreau v. Kilmer. Tryouts, practice, coaching all after school. Cool tradition to revive.
