The flag is so ugly and poorly designed. We should change it. It doenst follow the basic rules of flag design
Keep it simple.
Use meaningful symbolism.
Use two to three basic colors.
No lettering or seals of any kind.
Be distinctive.

Change it to Latino colors

The county's flag follows the same vexillological trends that Virginia's state flag uses, which are similar to those of a number of U.S. state flags...in other words boring. Virginia can be excused. They didn't really have a state flag until they found they needed one in 1861 so they just slapped the state seal on a blue flag. A better choice for Fairfax County would be to convert the Fairfax family coat of arms to a flag, much as the District did with George Washington's coat of arms or Maryland did with the Calvert arms.

BTW Half staff, if we were to use the Confederate battle flag, a more appropriate version would be the square one used by Lee's Army of Northern Virginia.

Change it to a red and white checkerboard pattern like the ones found on those little paper baskets that fish and chips come in from Arthur Treacher's.

I fly this flag at certain times at my house. It's the 1st flag of the Confederacy, the stars & bars (the battle flag doesn't have bars).

I understand that the battle flag is divisive, and don't want my house as a target for anything.

Fairfax County's flag DOES need to be redesigned. The current one violates the most basic principles of flag design.

The confederate battle flag was adopted here in the City of Fairfax. The city claims exclusive rights! :P
