I wish people would pick up their dog shit and trash at my apartment complex, it's very disgusting. I have to walk my dog through fields of cigarette butts, bottle caps, and dog shit. I wonder why I even bother picking up my dogs crap if nobody can treat the area with respect.

dimwits. the dog waste cans are a cost, and a maintenance issue. tell the residents that you have to replace the cans and pay money to maintain(clean) them and their the HOA dues are going up 2 bucks a month, and you'd see some pissed off people.

probably more so than what they are now.

I remember good old days let fido out in the yard. he drops his deuce and all is good. run over the deuce with the lawn mower when cutting the grass. its gone...

We have people in our neighborhood who bag their dog's waste and then just throw the bag on the ground. What's the point of picking up the poop if you're going to leave it there as littler? Morons! If you can't pick up after your pet, don't have a pet or live on a farm where it doesn't matter.

To be blunt, a high percentage of dog owners suck. Seems like no matter what neighborhood in NOVA (MD too actually) I visit, inevitably dogs not on leash jumping up on me, dog poop on sidewalk, dogs barking like wild banshees every time I walk by someone’s house, dog poop bags hanging from tree on a trail, etc. etc. etc.

And EVERY time I complain about the anti-social behavior I ALWAYS get a stink-eye like I’m the one causing the trouble.

I live in the neighborhood featured in the article. People devolved to this. They just started leaving bags of shit where the cans used to be. . . When they weren't putting it in HOA members cars or trying to mail it. Just crazy.

I guess if the cans suddenly vanished the natural thing to do would be to leave the bags of shit in the place the cans used to be.

That seems reasonable. Maybe they figured the cans were just temporarily missing, or being replaced/upgraded.

Just walk your dog in the late evening or early in the morning before the sun comes up, just like my wonderful neighbors do.

It probably wasn't a wise move for the HOA to unilaterally decide to remove those receptacles w/o at least giving the residents a heads up. I can understand how some people might have been irked by having the cans removed like that.

However, to express your displeasure by putting dog crap in the HOA board members' cars or actually mailing dog sh*t to an HOA member is - loony tunes. Cray cray. Certifiably nutso.

What sane person is going to serve on one of these boards.....sad.

We lived in a relatively nice apartment community that had dog waste disposal stations (with bags and receptacles) stationed all around the property. I was shocked by the amount of dog crap that some of the owners did not pick up. Sometimes I would see it laying right next to one of the receptacles. Ridiculous.

The first year, during training - it was me and the dog.

In order to properly train the dog where to shit, I have to take a shit and show him what to do and where to do it.

Now it's mostly him but I sometimes dump beside him for old times sake and bonding.

I don't clean anything up. This is NOVA. Nobody gives a fuck about their "fellow man" here any more.

How about dogs on leases jumping up on you? Ever have that problem?

The Newgate Homeowners Association Board of Directors removed dog waste cans from their Centreville subdivision last month. Ever since then, residents have complained about dog waste being left all over the neighborhood in inappropriate areas.

The HOA's board of directors noticed some problems after the removal of those waste cans too. It actually sent out a letter last week to residents that claimed people were putting dog waste in the cars owned by HOA board members.

Unfortunately you are correct sir. People in nova tend to be extremely self centered and selfish; this has been a problem in the region for at least 25 years and has only gotten worse with continued urbanization..
