Back in 2008 every one with a pickup truck became a tradesman. It's not rocket science so so a lot of people can do it, causing extreme saturation. To make it worse you have illegal immigrants and rustbelt rednecks pouring in doing the same work. I get lots of tradesman Ive worked with for years begging for work at times, especially during the winter months.
It's good you're debt free, that's pretty typical of people in the trade fields due to unstable income.
