I believe in Jesus but to be frank my spirit in Christmas has died since I lost so many family and friends in 2015-2016.
I am putting on a front for the kids, but for me it is just another day. I quietly pray and celebrate Christ being born, but my heart is not in the season anymore since the people I love are gone.
Also hate the commercialism, and the fact the family makes it a big competition who can buy the most expensive gift and who has the biggest and best decorated house. Fuck all that, I want my family back. :(

We used to decorate our tree, put up lights, and open presents......all on Christmas Eve. German tradition and very nice! Get the shit over with.

My lights have been up for a week, but if the weather is nice they will come down December 18. Everyone will be gone Christmas weekend and not much point taking them down in nasty weather in January.

Many who know they will be out of town for an extended period of time over Christmas
keep the decorations simple...a wreath on the door. Don't set out lights as if the lights are not on, it is a giveaway that the house is unoccupied. You could put
those candles usually found in windows on a timer, but to some, that is a hassle.
