Gas stations in the Northern Fairfax County and Eastern Loudoun area are still selling regular in the $2.30 a gallon range. Most other areas have it around $2.00.

The Express Stop at 9550 Old Keene Mill Rd in Burke has regular for $1.97. It's next to the Safeway at the intersection with Lee Chapel Rd.

Most of the low-price stations in Annandale are selling regular for $1.98 to $1.99. Fredericksburg and Richmond are $1.78 or less. A couple places in Dahlgren have it for $1.68.

That place is always significantly lower than everyone in the surrounding area and its always packed. If you want to gas up there its best to go in the off hours.

I was in Richmond today car shopping. Took Rt 1 from Fredericksburg because 95 was a cluster fuck. Sheetz somewhere north of Richmond was $1.72/gal for reg.

I like that their gas is cheap, but I wonder if their gas is watered down.

Also, the guy with the beard and turban inside the kiosk on the weekends is one rude MF'er.

No. It is not watered down gas. It comes from the same terminals and major oil companies as Sunoco, Shell, Exxon, BP, Citgo, etc., whichever company has the best price that day.

So it looks like Costco is the best place to gas at.

someone is going to get shot there one day, Amazing how people forget Common sense when getting the cheapest gas in town and think its going to run out. Best time is after 9 pm, and before 7 am. I pay the higher amount elsewhere and use rewards points just to avoid the place, its very similar to Costco where rules of the road do not apply to walking down an isle, every Idiot for their self.

on one of my vehicles my fill up is at most $5

driving to earn 0.05 cents/gal would loose money, not make money

really. in the past gas prices were less colluded. people followed prices because it paid dollars to go to the right station

today if you go into traffic to head to a further station and save cents, you loose anyway

buy American

get CHEVRON or some other station that is owned and run in your Country, not a "global company" that is using your gas money to shut down jobs in the USA

I frequently hear this kind of faulty logic and simply do not understand. But it's your money to throw away. The current actual price difference is $.32/gallon ($2.29 in W. Springfield vs. $1.97 in Burke), so the savings for a 20 gallon fill-up is $6.40. The drive down old Keene Mill Rd to Burke is about 5 miles longer round trip. Thus at 15 mi./gallon it requires approximately 1/3 of a gallon, or $.66 to drive the extra 5 miles. Therefore my net savings is $5.74. In reality I usually coordinate fuel-ups with some other errand that takes me to that location.

Costco has the best price on 93, some gas stations have good prices on 87 but out the ass on 93. I have seen premium going for 50% more than the regular at some stations, the good ones only charge 10% - 15% more.

That's weird. Usually Costco is cheaper but in this case it is the same price as the Express Stop in Burke. Fredericksburg or Manassas Costco is cheaper though.

Yeah the Fairfax Costco is exactly the same price as Express Stop in Burke for regular. For 93 octane Costco is 3 cents cheaper, $2.28 vs. $2.31.

I was in Harrisonburg and Sheetz is selling E-15 gas for 1.78 a gallon while regular unleaded is 1.99. There is a warning label on the E-15 that says "Not for use in vehicles made before 2001" what gives with that? is it safe for my 2011 honda?? The pump looked exactly like this but the price was different.

It would cost more to drive there and back than it would just to buy at your local station.

you know that dried grease that hardens like concrete above a fryer ? that is ethanol in your engine...that is why your small engines need to be emptied in the winter or other long non-use...

That isn't my understanding, though I am not a petroleum engineer. The ethanol is very hard on rubber seals and hoses; the reason gas "goes bad" is because some of the lighter fractions evaporate. This leaves the heavier fractions, which make for hard starting. Some components also oxidize, and can precipitate out of solution. Also, water vapor gets in there and we all know that water in fuel is not a great plan.

So net-net, the result is kind of like what you describe, and ethanol doesn't help with engine life, but ethanol itself doesn't harden.
