Johnson is cool when it comes to weed but it stops there. He believes in open borders.

I would never vote for him.

More like an open borders feminine spray than a douche.

I heard someone say that Trump is building a mile deep moat along with the 100 foot high wall that has sharks with friggen Lazer eyeballs.

Gary Johnson on Immigration:

Having served as Governor of a border state, Gary Johnson understands immigration. He understands that a robust flow of labor, regulated not by politics, but by the marketplace, is essential. He understands that a bigger fence will only produce taller ladders and deeper tunnels, and that the flow of illegal immigrants across the border is not a consequence of too little security, but rather a legal immigration system that simply doesn’t work. Militarizing the border, bigger fences, and other punitive measures espoused by too many politicians are all simplistic “solutions” to a problem caused by artificial quotas, bureaucratic incompetence and the shameful failure of Congress to actually put in place an immigration system that matches reality.

Governor Johnson has long advocated a simplified and secure system of work visas by which willing workers and willing employers can meet in a robust labor marketplace efficiently and economically. Aspiring immigrants would undergo a background check, pay taxes and provide proof of employment.

Making it simpler and efficient to enter the U.S. legally will provide the greatest security possible, allowing law enforcement to focus its time and resources on the criminals and bad actors who are, in reality, a relatively small portion of those who are today entering the country illegally.

That is a very sane and rational approach to immigration.

In the DC area at least the legal/illegal immigrants have developed a whole society based on cash and pay no taxes. And what about those who want to come here but not work? How will we limit them with no border controls?

Its not a choice between a huge wall or open borders.
The question is: where do we spend our money and energy?
Recall our debt is approaching 20,000,000,000,000

Read Trump's immigration plan before spouting off. Sealing the border is just one part of it. Geez, you uniformed sheeple really shouldn't vote....

The only problems with Trump's plans (this week's version) is that Trump would be part of them.

He is a moron, and Hilary is a criminal.

Yep. And I'll take the moron trying to do the right thing over the evil criminal who will never do the right thing any day. At least with Trump, he might stumble onto progress every now and again. With Hillary, there's no chance.

My problem with Clinton and Trump is that I believe nothing that they say. I have no idea what they truly believe, and I think it is because neither has an ethical basis for decision making. Each of them believes only in their winning, personally.

+1 vote

You hit the nail on the head. Both are cut from the same cheesy New York huckster cloth, which is why I will vote for Gary. He may have aspects of some policies that are not exactly in line with my views, or pandering to my views, but at least he is relatable and has proven Executive Branch experience. Same as his running mate. Not perfect, but at least they are sane and not criminals.

My biggest objection to Johnson is that open borders problem as it applies to the H1Bs being used to dilute tech salaries. I'm in the tech industry, and I'm old. Even if a cheap H1B doesn't take this job, they limit where I can go.

That said, at least he thinks that as a philosophy, not because he was paid a $250K honorarium for a speech by someone who may want cheaper labor at some time in the future.

I know.

But my experience has been that dealing with an ethical person with whom I disagree almost always results in a better outcome than dealing with a lying, crooked, narcissist that tells me what (s)he thinks I want to hear. So to me, the choice has never been more clear.

I think Johnson will respect the office, too, and not essentially pass laws via executive order.

The enemy is deceit.
That's both D's and Rs this cycle.
Trump is no conservative, Clinton is no liberal.
Don't throw your country away by voting for them.
When 65% of the country wants something other than them, the only way either wins is voters fearing that the worst candidate will win.
I will not be complicit, I will vote Johnson.

Ah, the Richmond Times, that newspaper that I knew about and whose endorsement I cared about 5 minutes ago, and that I have actually read, ever.

Yes, the Richmond Herald, er...Times. Whatever.
