Obama promised the ACA would provide "the same kind of choice of private health insurance that members of Congress get for themselves." Then there was, "If you like your healthcare plan, you'll be able to keep your healthcare plan, period." Oh and, of course, "We will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period."

Flash-forward and it seems another major insurance carrier is dropping from the exchanges every day. Aetna, United, Humana, Harken. After a while, it becomes white noise; just big insurance company names in the news, the premiums that were promised to decrease have skyrocketed, the plans we were promised we could keep have or will be canceled and the "competition" that was promised to drive the exchanges has ended. We are rapidly approaching a healthcare apocalypse.

I feel so much better after reading this thread. The liberal folks I know tell me I'm the " only person" they have heard of having problems because of the affordable care act.

My company just dropped out of the insurance market all together. I found another plan that cost 68% more, then it doubled the following year.

$5,000 deductible and current premium of $1,197.00 so I cancelled it. Can't afford it. Meanwhile someone I know has the same plan for $33 a month on a ObamaCON plan. In the last 5 years I have never known them to be employed all 12 months out of any given year. They have collected unemployment for huge stretches of time and really aren't exactly trying to improve their vocational status.

I work 50-70 hours a week running a business and do well but not well enough to really afford this new insurance scam where you get you subsidise every lazy fucker out there with inflated rates.

Exactly what every responsible economist said would happen has occurred. Anyone voting for Hillary after this is just a flat out FOOL.

Yeah good idea. Double down on failure must produce success, right? How could it possibly go wrong?

It is cheaper to pay the fine than to pay into Obamacare itself.

The fine goes up each year. Obamacare becomes more profitable for the government if the use of subsidized individual policies shrinks.

Only 6 of original 23 co-ops remain

Health Republic Insurance of New Jersey is folding after the state’s insurance commissioner put the Obamacare co-op in “rehabilitation” due to its hazardous financial condition.

reality is the Affordable Care Act is no longer affordable Democrat Gov Dayton said.

Premiums for 250,000 Minnesotans, or 5 percent of the population, insured under MNsure will skyrocket by 50 percent or more on some health plans.

“The governor ate some crow today,” Larry Jacobs said.

The political analyst and professor at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs called the governor’s admission a major concession.

“It is a crisis situation,” House Speaker Kurt Daudt said.

“I think it’s a good step that the governor is now admitting that most Minnesotans can’t afford this and I think that’s a good first step to us now being able to work together to take some action to fix this so that we can find a solution that will get Minnesotans the health coverage they need at a cost they can afford,” Daudt said
