Where can you dump your tree stumps & large branches?
Posted by: Lydia ()

My husband had someone take down a couple of trees about a year ago and, being the cheap *** that he is, he didn't pay them to haul the stumps away. Figured he'd do it himself. So there it all sits.....still. We have a large pick-up so it's not like we can't do it ourselves but, like everyone, we're BUSY. I've talked my 17 year old into doing it (for pay, of course) but now I don't know where we can dispose of it all. Looked online for "dumps" in the area, but didn't come up with anything (actually, I did - THIS site) Can anyone help me?

Sell it or give it away as firewood.

Someone will come get it.

Have your son drive out into the boonies, find a dirt road, and dump it on some unsuspecting farmer's property. It's that asshole's problem now.

Dude has a good recommendation.

And, seriously, your husband needs to become more self-actualizing. Next time he wants to pull a stunt like this, ask him to imagine what the yard is going to look like in six months when he doesn't move the shit.

I used to be like your husband. Then I realized life is much easier if I just pay the extra to have the shit done versus having to listen to my wife bitch at me month-after-month about not doing something.

Gee, thanks for the advice, WashingTone-Locian. He just really likes to "do it himself", and I usually applaud him on it. But this is one that he's just never gonna get enough time to do.

btw, thanks, Dude. I went to the Fairfax Co site you gave me, called the I-95 Landfill Complex in Lorton (703)690-1703, and they DO accept tree trunks and large limbs.

Small fee but worth it, for any other "do-it-yourselfers" out there.

A s'more is a traditional campfire treat popular in the United States and Canada, consisting of a roasted marshmallow and a layer of chocolate sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker. The name "s'more" means "some more", as in: "give me some more!"

You can take yard debris to the West Ox Road transfer station or to the Lorton landfill off I95. They charge a small fee, depending on how much debris you have but it's where to go legally.

They DO??? Holy shit, don't tell me you can dump other types of trash in there too? When did this become available? They must have just built this facility but didn't tell anyone.

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington DC

Just back up to the front gate and start dumping. Tell the gatekeeper that the Kenyan HNIC said you should.

I just took down some trees and had the stumps dug up and sectioned them so they would fit in my truck. Took them to the FFC West Ox transfer station which does take stumps and large logs.

They make you use the scale and charge by the ton, as opposed to lump sum fees for smaller brush and limbs. After weighing you have to drive them to the top of the landfill and unload them in a pile of logs/stumps, then return to determine empty weight and pay.

I think its around $45/ton.

You can try a sawmill like riverbend saw mill half way to Leesburg.

Theyll make it into sawdust or unfinished planks.

Great place to pick up cheap, high quality, unfinished boards and posts.

Take it to this address and put it in the backyard. The house owner is a little crazy and needs as many branches and stumps as he can get to cover the shallow graves he's dug for his family and neighbors...

You can take your wood and yard waste to the fairfax county dump. There's one in Lorton. They charge a fee but it's cheap.

Thanks! I've been checking this thread for replies for about the last 7 years, hoping that someone would finally give me the answers that a basic google search obviously couldn't. My husband left me after about year 4 of my bitching and hasn't been back since. He took the pickup truck with him. Does anyone know of a service that I can call to have this stuff hauled away?
