The chief is having a bad year...

FAIRFAX, Va. - Fairfax County Police are investigating a crash involving Fairfax County Fire Chief Richard Bowers. The accident happened on Thursday morning and involved another vehicle that left the other driver injured.

Chief Bowers was on-duty, operating his assigned county vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, southbound on the Rt. 29 ramp approaching the ramp to northbound Rt. 286. The front of the Tahoe then collided on the right side of a 2002 BMW in the intersection.

The driver of the BMW, a 36-year-old man from the Fairfax area , was transported to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Chief Bowers was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.

Why does he get a $70k Tahoe assigned to him? That's a hell of a perk.

If fox news says it's old, it's really old.

If you think a Tahoe is a nice perk how about full pay for life after retirement.

It must be nice to be a county employee and collect $70,000 a year for doing nothing the rest of your life.

$70,000? Well a 2WD LT base trim starts at $48,195 while a 4WD LTZ premium trim starts at $62,935...and these are 2016 prices.

Have been through that intersection many times. So many traffic lights, roads, merge lanes, etc, it has to be one of the most poorly designed intersections in the country. Not a typo. I meant country. Anyone is lucky to get through there without getting in a collision.

The county pays nowhere near retail price for it's vehicles. We buy them from a statewide motor pool run by the state government. There are a few exceptions but 95% of the county cars ,trucks and busses are purchased well below retail price. Fire engines and such are custom built to suit the needs of the fire company they are assigned to but not regular cars, suv's and pick-ups.

He was saying the truck was worth $70k. Good grief. Not his salary was $70k!

Bowers is asleep at the wheel of FCFD. He has proven himself as a clueless bitch. I wonder why he has not resigned yet?

Bowers was a good man in his day but those days are long gone. He really needs to retire and get the hell out of the way. He's old and useless.

I am sure it was not the only accident in Fairfax that day.

My bad, I was $7k off. No one buys a 2WD Tahoe.

He should be given the chance to retire before we fire his incompetent ass.
