THIS IS VERY SHOCKING. FCPS HAD AN "INFORMAL" RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMPANY THAT ARRANGED THE TRIP TO GERMANY. EMAILS BRING MUCH CONCERN.

I'm sure Angela Atwater has put all of her online Ed.D. learning into the letter saying the matter is closed. She was late to Sea Pearl, but they know her regular order.

As with anything, you cannot believe everything you read/see in the press.

Someone is feeding the News 4 troll. The reporter is looking for a story or to make a story.

Something may have occurred, FCPS may not have done the best job addressing the issue, but overall it seems this is getting blown somewhat out of proportion.

This is very serious situation

If the acts that took place in Germany are a crime per German Law, then criminal charges can be filed against him. I imagine district prosecutors are doing their research as we speak. FCPS and Langley's claims they have nothing to do with this are laughable. There's no way the trip would have been able to go on without the company itself being vetted by FCPS.

Rules are different in Germany - kids who were 16 could drink beer legally - no encouragement was offered or required - kids who did drink were kept safe.
Kids on the after trip wanted to go to the sauna, Rad told those kids that the locals went naked in the sauna - if they wanted to "go native" it was up to them - again, no encouragement to do so, just making kids aware of cultural differences
Langley lost a great German teacher who had students excited about learning the language - the new teachers stink and the program is declining

If Rademacher has any deposit from kids who were supposed to go on the trip for the following year, he should return that money

the issue is not what was or was not legal in Germany the issue is that this another FCPS coverup. They only disclose things when they get caught. There are too many contracts and relationships that are not subject to proper review.

That sounds like a mighty sanitized version of what is alleged to have happened. I don't think that people are freaking out that the kids drank beer (legally) in Germany or went that they went to a nude sauna.

Last I heard people were freaking because the kids were getting drunk with their teacher and engaging in sex acts. Not true?

FCPS does not wznt to talk about it. They just want to ptetrnd like nothing ever happened.

Last I heard the Feds were looking into this. You can't take somebody under 18 overseas and have sex with them. German laws don't matter.

This wasn't a school trip. Nobody signed any school forms. The administration should not have been doing anything with this company. They should not have had students coming from Germany using this company as it was not an approved vendor. The fact that Langley students went overseas is simply not the school system's problem. The fact that the families were solicited for this kind of travel on school property during school hours and school events IS their problem. Just another sloppy admin screwup.

This company was not vetted by FCPS and they didn't have to be to have FCPS kids go to Europe with them. This was a private trip.

The parents need to have the Fairfax Police Department work on finding this loser to get their money back. That is also not the school system's problem. It is going to be very difficult to get their money back.

What is going on with the Feds????????? Any updates?

Why is German even taught?
