FCPD Barbie Sedans

Why did FCPD replace the retired Crown Vic with these ugly, Ford Interceptor Barbie Sedans? I understand the whole gas savings concept and I’m sure there were multiple crash test studies done but they just look so feeble and seem like they would be incompetent in a high-speed pursuit situation. A lot of police departments are investing in the Dodge Charger which seems like a much more logical choice.

You answered your own question...more fuel efficient cars for the police make sense and with the traffic being so bad here, there's no need for county vehicles to participate in a "high-speed pursuit".

These new police cars also have GPS implementation technology. They fire GPS trackers from both forward and rearward facing points of deployment which then send a signal to all FCPD units and command centers. They can only be removed by LEO's. Any non-LEO that tries to remove room is instantly vapoohrized...

We obviously don’t live in the same part of the county. Can they fire a GPS tracker into the back of a perp fleeing on foot? Now that would be useful!! And we’d see big budget savings not having to dispatch Fairfax One multiple times each evening. A GPS tracker shot into the bumper of stolen car is only good until they bail.

They likely have too many gadgets. Maybe one or more screens. This may be a reason why an officer was not able to see a school bus right in front of his face.

Funny didn't the post report that the bus pulled out in front of the police car.

Ford is American; Dodge is Italian. Buy USA!

The 6 cylinder interceptors will blow the doors off the old crown vic's.

The Dodges are no good for road cops, you cant fit a suspect in the back after that divider is installed.

Because Ford no longer makes the Crown Victoria.

My hope was that they would retire that ugly-ass paint and graphics scheme along with the Crown Vics. It's not a classic cop car look from the 50's nor is it modern...it's just...well wait...the State Troopers's cars also suck. Just some STATE POLICE stickers slapped on the side? The County Sheriff's cars on the other hand look professional.

Pretty sure they are using real cars and not toy you posted. So, no, they aren't using Barbie cars.

I agree. An old Crown Vic got the first shot in on this nigger, but a new Taurus finished him off. The new Police Interceptors on the Taurus platform are an upgrade option to SHO performance models and are beasts on the highway.

you may be able to outrun the ford, but no chance of outrunning the bell jet ranger with FLIR or Mr Motorolla...

... people evade that copter all the time.
Listen to the scanner sometime. After an incident, they often piss off an entire neighborhood for hours, circling Fairfax One endlessly, with no results.
Face it, the cops here are pathetic. It's not surprising though. We don't have enough poor people to cause trouble and VA's court system makes MD and DC a much more attractive option for local criminality.

Just saw two of these doing at least 60 MPH down my quiet neighborhood street. No sirens, just lights on. Had I not been looking out the window, I don't think I would've heard them. Zero engine noise.
