The School Board and FCPS leadership is very much part of the problem of why Fairfax County is declining. Since they are more concerned on pissing money away on the helping the illegals then American born kids or legal immigrants to this country. Not to mention Transgender bathrooms, or highly paid "consultants", or the lavish Gatehouse HQ in Falls Church.

I went through FCPS myself for Elementary/Middle school some 15 years ago and most of my peers where ether middle or upper middle class white, Korean, or Indian kids. Now that same school I went to is now largely South of the Border with most getting free lunch and ESL.

Hell it was even getting bad then with the large numbers of students in ESL, classes in trailers, and teachers stretched thin by it all.

I can't imagine how bad it is now.

Fairfax overall is approaching the same point MoCo did 20 years ago and is in steady decline against places like Loudoun County which don't have the problems or Democratic control like Fairfax does to weigh it down.

I grew up in Springfield in the 1970's. I had the same experience as your 2 kids.

The difference is...I didn't have to share that experience with more than 5% non-white peers. The diversity in Fairfax County coupled with the arrival of METRO back in the 90's is appalling, horrific and has contributed greatly to this area's fall from a somewhat, liveable and affordable suburban environment to a third-world shit hole.

It's Great Falls, some parts of McLean and then...there's the REST of Fairfax County.

There has to be a balance. I grew up in North Arlington and we were diverse too but there were not as many hispanics as there are now! Back then in the 80s and 90s we had the right balance. Now there are so many that come here and don't understand or accept the culture. This includes any foreigner.

I grew up in Fairfax and went to TJ. There were Mike 3 blacks, 4 non-white Hispanics and no openly Allah Akbar Muslims with the headscarf in my high school. Those were the good old days!!!

Nothing lasts forever. Fairfax County was once beautiful country inhabited by Native Americans with an abundance of wildlife to sustain life.
Nowadays, a sewer system is the only thing that keeps the county from turning into a shithole.

Fairfax County is still evolving, so it is impossible to determine how the Fairfax zeitgeist will end up. Taking a look at other significant jurisdictions may be instructive. Urban areas experience different atmospherics as their economies go from prosperity through hard times and, eventually, we hope, back to prosperity. Fairfax County will have its ups and downs, certainly. Nevertheless, the fortunate co-location with the Federal government will smooth out a lot of bumps as the salaries of SES, GS-15s and 14s have a flywheel effect that carries the area economy when other parts of the country are suffering economic contraction and layoffs.

Oh I just love living in my townhouse neighborhood the past few years here in western Fairfax Co. It's heaven with all the illegals and camel jockeys living 6 to 8 people in two bedroom town homes. Waking me up in the middle of the night with their noisy piece of shit cars adorned with stolen license plates, no drivers license, no liability insurance. The Modello and Corona beer bottles, used condoms, and half eaten bags of fast food thrown all over the place. Stepping dog shit if I want to walk around the common areas during the daylight hours and having to carry a handgun if I want to walk my dog after sunset. Yea, this is just fucking great!

I was born and raised right here in Fairfax Co. Over the past 50 years I have seen this place turn into the complete shit hole that it now is. You can thank the hundreds of millions of dollars in Section 8 housing subsidies dolled out hand over fist ever year by the Democratic controlled Board of Supervisors (8 Dems vs. 2 Repbubs). Also. thanks to motor voter registration these assholes will be voting themselves more free shit this November. I can't wait to retire and get the fuck out of this "Sanctuary City".
