Question about Low Income Housing
Posted by: ........555555 ()

Just wondering what type of people actually live in low income housing in Fairfax County? Both the rental properties and Section 8?

Is it mainly illegals and foreigners like those who live in the shitty apartments? Or a different crowd all together?

Also what parts of Fairfax County have the highest concentrations of low income housing?

Low income housing in Fairfax County is a mix of people. Section 8 housing is occupied by people that actually meet the requirements for Section 8 meaning physically unable to work mainly usually due to illness or physical injury. Proof of said illness or injury is required Section 8 here is actually hard to get. From my experience living in the county Section 8 housing is made up of blacks but just barely. A good percentage are actually white. The rest is a mix.

Now NON Section 8 low income housing where I am in Mt.Vernon is nearly all south of the border people. Sequoya used to be mostly black in the early 90's now it is mostly south of the border. Woodlawn Gardens used to be mostly black 25 years ago but now is near 100 percent south of the border.

When it comes to whites they tend to prefer trailer parks like Audobon behind the old Multiplex now a Costco. Trailer parks up and down the highway are either mostly white or mostly south of the border. Here on the highway whites prefer to rent out a floor of a house than get an apartment where there are nothing but legal and illegal immigrants.

Highest concentration? Out Rt7 near Eden center that is where MS 13 centers out of in NOVA. There must be a mile of low rent apartments on the southern side of Rt7 west near Eden Center. That is where MS 13 is. I used to deliver beer out there it was a nightmare.

As for legal vs illegals I would say the ratio is 60/40 60 percent illegal 40 percent legal. Not all the south of the border people standing in front of the 7-11's in the morning trying to get day work are illegal. Day laborers dont pay any taxes on what they earn and they demand no less than $150 a day and get it in cash.

This post is pure racism.

I will say he is correct about the racial makeup in the communities he has mentioned.

Have you driven around said complexes down route 1 lately? I cannot say he is lying- because he is not.

I agree racism is bad- but he is simply telling the truth about the racial makeup of the area. It's like saying Great Falls, VA is 90% white- because it is.

*correction*

Great Falls is 80.5% white. See "demographics". My error!

Can't handle the truth!

Race should have nothing to do with where or how people live, and to make issue of a person's race is racism.

True, but he answered OP's question correctly.

Some people want to know the racial makeup of the community they will be moving to- for example, an African-American may not consider moving to the Great Falls area as the area has a very low percentage of people of his/her race.

Merely a question of comfort. Some people don't mind living in a high-minority area, but there are those that do and that is why the question was posed.

For a personal example, I would NOT want to live in an area that is predominately one race. I prefer to live where ALL cultures are living together, like where I am now, it is fairly evenly mixed with all cultures and races represented. I have an asian neighbor on one side and a black neighbor on the other with a hispanic family down the block- no problems at all.

This is why the gentrification issues exist- for example, white people moving into SE DC, which is predominately African-American. They don't want to "accept" other races living there and complain, when they (the whites) only are looking for a less-expensive area to live, and it just so happens to be predominately African-American.

fed gov and fx co did:

* race quota hiring around 1995-2000 , esp in gov $$$
saying laws that allowed descrimination suits not good enough

* laws against rent/least descrimination

* programs to take mayor marion barry unfunded drop-outs and
use fx co gov money (my f'ing money too) to bring them in
fx and give them work - paying for transportation

* newly, hugely counterfeited money used to make free for
("the minorities") DC metro in fx co
ALSO more gov jobs and housing

FACT are CLEAR: "the minorities" are not a minority and choose to separate from whites

furthermore - bull-o-va gov has used counterfeited loans turned liquied into cash to get as many unfunded liberals around her for votes as possible to protect her from liability from republicans with power questioning her accounting

FACT IS: it is the other way around. given the chance and money they sue for descrimination anyway, arent a minority but use minority penalty laws

and they seek housing with their own kind but especially not the white kind

this is not a "white" made thing at all. it is they way they want it, though they wont say so because they are still seeing minority and descrimination suits

BTW, it officially is no longer called Section 8 and one does not have to have a disability to be approved --

it's mostly single mothers of any race ..
Somtimes people lie and say they are single .. then move in their husband and other relatives ,..
a very bad deal in the end for landlords most of the time ..
The program has huge waste and fraud ... so many people plying the system .. and for some reason, they care less about checking the backgrounds of people they approve for the program.

Pretty fucked up.

If you can't afford to live here then move away or don't come here in the first place.

So you have one neighbor that will steal or rob from you, one neighbor that is too lazy to steal or rob from you, and still another neighbor that can't drive, so you are likely to have you car smashed into.

Good luck living YOUR American Dream.

Truth. I knew of a single mom with 5 kids (we worked together way back)- she was on section 8 (this was in 2007 so right before the crash of 2008) and had a BEAUTIFUL 4 bed 3 bath single family home in Herndon (the nice part where homes went for 500k+!).

Since she was "low income" (made about 35k as we all did working in a call center for an IT company), she was able to get that house.

She then showed up to work the following week in a 2 year old dodge magnum wagon she got from eastern motors (using the job as a reference and her low rent qualified her for it). 2 Months later, had "20's" on it. All because she was able to blow her money since "Rent" was only $350 and the landlord was paid the rest of the mortgage by Fairfax County.

In < 1 year, 2 of the "baby daddies" moved in and they all TRASHED the place. Constant fight between her and the kid's fathers, who came to mooch off her with no job (I heard the stories at breaktime, it was a live soap opera with her!) The car was repo'd (I know this because she asked me for a ride, I came to pick her up, and went inside to notice how SHITTY the inside of the house was, roaches everywhere too! Poor kids!) and they all had to move out in a hurry when the landlord finally came by to visit to check on things.

I felt for that landlord! He not only had to pay to repair the house, he lost money on the sale due to the housing crash!

And before the comments fly, the family was white....not being racist, just stating a FACT.

Oh so true!

Then she probably got another housing voucher, and moved on to the next house.

We had a "Landlord" that played the Section 8 game in our neighborhood. He bought 6 homes pre-construction, and had them optioned out as cheap as possible. He got the renters in as soon as the homes went through "punch out", and that's when the trouble started.

Noise and disruption were constant. Big dogs running wild, motorbikes racing up and down the street at 11pm on summer nights, and then there was the trash situation.

Each home is issued a standard sized green rolling trash can with a hinged lid. The amount of garbage some of these homes produced was mind blowing. Dozens of white garbage bags piled on the curb a day after the trash collection was done, and the dogs loved it. Rotten garbage strewn through the neighborhood, scattered by dogs, the wind, and believe it or not some of the feral children tore into bags to play with it.

We sold our home in 2004, and bought another home further out, with more space. I don't know how it all played out, but something had to be done I am sure. This was in western Fairfax County off of RT. 50

The place is full of people wearing gold-plated diapers. What do you think?
