FCPS War on Fairfax County: Now It's Time To Create Budget
Posted by: Pat Tines ()

Now that Kathy Smith and others successfully voted to cut $20 MILLION from the $2.67 BILLION proposed school budget (Thank you!) it's time to help the school board decide how to spend less. While Dr. Garza has stated that she cannot in clear conscience spend less anywhere, Fairfax taxpayers think differently.

Hence, another survey.

Many of your favorite cost-cutting measures are already in there. Go for it!

I laugh at some of those suggestions for example,

One of the top suggestions is to elimnate all voicemail for teachers because of some surcharge or monthly payments to have them. Well i can say for a fact that all voicemail services are ran and supported in house with fcps owned equipment no outside service provider necessary.

There are a few more like that where the person who suggests an item has no clue on how things really work.

My favorite is the suggestion to stop overnight retreats and out-of-state seminars. What are these people thinking?

Continuing education is a key part of professional development. I'm guessing that you and the other hapless dumbshits here fall way short when it comes to either education or development.

Quit frequenting the local restaurants and pack lunches and take your $11.50 per diem. Millions saved.

The offsites and retreats have become part of the FCPS culture of entitlement, just imagine how many people at Ridge and Gatehouse do nothing but plan them, you know, reviewing menus and lists of hotel amentities.

There are plenty of professional development opportunities right here in washington. We do not need to bring in these $10,000/day consultants with their latest fads.

We could put the savings into remedial math classes for dummies like you.

All they have become part of is the litany of absolute stupid shit that is regularly recited by worthless right-wing dumbfucks.

There are ZERO people who do nothing but that. How much of a total freaking asstard can you possibly be?

And you would have exactly NO RELEVANT EXPERIENCE in this field AT ALL. Just another overgrown weed of a fat-mouth right-wing dumbfuck. Go waste somebody else's time with your douchebag blather, asshole.

Considering the lease on Fairfax Ridge has expired, nobody.

I can agree nobody's worth $10,000/day. Has FCPS really paid that amount to a consultant?

Don't need remedial math classes. There are a lot of FCPS employees who need them, and also remedial English classes. They don't seem to be able to read and follow directions very well.

Overnight local retreats can also go. You don't accomplish anything at the Westin that you can't accomplish in an FCPS building except spend lots of money you don't have to spend.

My vote is for ESOL centers. If these programs were centralized, the savings would be huge! We would not need multiple ESOL teachers at each school and students would learn English at an accelerated rate.

FCPS paid Eric Jensen $9,000/day. Flip Flippen charged another school district $10,000/HOUR for a motivational speech.

Get rid of the $100,000s of dollars that FCPS pays to pearson each year.
Their SOL prep books, by grade level, only encourages teachers to teach by the test.

We tried to tell the Bushies that high-stakes testing was a bad idea. But as with WMDs and tax cuts for the rich, they wouldn't listen.
