> Bill on sexually explicit books, similiar to Fairfax Co. policy, gets final OK in > Virginia

A bill that would force schools to notify parents if their children are to be assigned to read books with sexually explicit content is heading to Virginia’s Democratic governor.

absolutely full of crap. during clinton years the liberals canceled ALL classic books with political overtones liberals do not agree with, books that had been assigned for over 50 years as mandatory reading

fairfax county prosecutes parents and children over "sexiness" but also passed a law saying the fairfax library is allowed to serve sexual even porn to children and not be prosecuted for it

they are not only lawless they are continually, re-diculously, making laws they already fucking made which reflect things they did in the clinton years without any laws - attacking the way the USA was before sacks of shit began deciding on their own pay and own authority "level"

They really need to provide some examples of works that are being objected to. I realize Shakespeare can be racy and certainly Chaucer as well. However there is no reason kids should be required to read gratuitous smut.

I graduated frorm HS in a rural Virginia county over 30 years ago. However I don't recall ever being required to read any sexually explicit books. I don't object to them being in school libraries, but sexually explicit works should not be required reading.

Jim Webb wrote porno novels. His shit is ok, Mark Twain's work "Not otay" No more Uncle Remus either. Nigger Jim, Mr.Bluebird and the Tar Baby, even Jungle Book are too rough for their tender little lib minds to handle.

I don't seem to remember being asked to read any sexually explicit books while in school. I don't recall ever seeing any in the library either.

What books are they talking about?

Sorry, FCPS...I'm not getting behind a measure like this until you put forth a list of books you want to ban. Context is everything.

Catcher in the Rye? That should be required reading. The greatest book ever written.

The Kama Sutra? The SECOND greatest book ever written. No reason to have this in a school...any school. Bring out the ban hammer!

Libraries will not accept books anymore, they will only learn from the internet from now on. Burn all books that contain real history is the new Lib mantra.

What? What? Your comments are so tangled I can't tell whether you favor or oppose the legislation. Learn how to write in English and then come back and report what you are trying to say.

Beloved by Toni Morrison is the book that sent the Fairfax mother into a tizzy, which is the event that helped prompt this piece of legislation.
