Percolator VS Drip Coffee
Posted by: Gunlover ()
Date: March 07, 2016 07:04PM

I just threw my keurig 2.0 away forever. I'm tired of plastic k-cup tasting and cold coffee. I found good strong and hot coffee again in a Percolator and regular forger coffee.

whats your preference?

Percs are old tech - they make very bitter coffee. That is what they used in the 50's. Drip is it but see if you can find one that isnt all plastic inside - that shit just goes into your body and brings the cancer

I think percolators make the best and hottest coffee but they are a bitch to clean. The electric ones don't last long, either.

I'm no kcup fan, but seriously, percolators are probably the worst way to make coffee. They continuously recirculate the coffee and ruin the flavor. Best way to brew is to keep it simple. All you need is a pot and a fine strainer. Bring water to a slight boil, throw in some grounds, let it sit for 3-4 minutes, then pour it thru the strainer into your mug. Comes out perfect. And you don't need a whole separate appliance to make it.

Oh my, Asshole Spotter is back again. He is just like Monty Python's Black Knight:

Quote

King Arthur has just cut the Black Knight's last leg off]
Black Knight: All right, we'll call it a draw.
King Arthur: [Preparing to leave] Come, Patsy.
[King Arthur and Patsy ride off]
Black Knight: [calling after King Arthur] Oh, oh, I see! Running away, eh? You yellow bastards! Come back here and take what's coming to you! I'll bite your legs off!

Not sure if this is true, but might be worth a read:

press is basically the same as my stove top method above, except you don't even need that extra french press gadget.

you’re not suppose to clean them. The residue adds the flavor that makes the coffee good. but if you HAVE to clean it, use dishwasher soap (the powder). Soak it and wipe it out. Shines like new.

I tried this. It was good. Been wanting to get rid of that old drip. Simple is always best.

Fresh ground is the only way for me. Grind & brew machines are a little pricey but damn is there a difference.

Cowboy coffee. Just be a man. Coffee grounds heated with water in a pot on the stove. Filter with a paper towel.

Paper towels work but it's nasty. Those things aren't clean and collect dust. Put one in your mouth sometime, it's gross.

Pot on the stove is the original way to brew coffee, just buy a strainer you can rinse out.

Or be a real man like my granddad and pour it straight from the pot, carefully so you don't get grounds in your cup.

Except for the press part, which is the part that makes the difference.

Never use soap of any kind. Coffee makers should indeed be cleaned, but that should be done with a solution of baking soda and water which is then rinsed well.

The difference is actually all in your head. That's fine of course, but ground coffee that has been properly stored delivers all the same oils and essences that fresh ground does.

REAL MEN don't have stoves. They have campfires. And they don't have paper towels either. Those are women's goods!

That's why everyone that drinks my coffee thinks its so good. They think its some special bean or whatever whatever... Its just plain old no name whole bean coffee that's freshly ground. But you're right just my $0.02.

Actually the best way is to roast your own beans at home and grind them. You can mail-order the beans over the internet. I brew all my coffee using a horn siphon, and honestly it's really the only way to make a perfect pot of coffee, everything else seems amateurish.

I buy pre-ground Costco brand coffee, dump it in a Mr. Coffee, and it is just fine.

You would never catch me in a Charbux. Burnt taste, too expensive. You would never catch me paying big bucks for a cup of coffee ANYWHERE.

Plus, I can only drink decaf, so that adds to the challenges.

learn to make bulletproof coffee. use fresh roasted beans and 100% grassfed butter. you will taste this difference and its a lot healthier than all that other crap.
