How happy are you to be living in the DC area?
Posted by: Questioning move ()
Date: January 28, 2016 05:41PM

First time browsing this forum and I can't tell if most of you are A) unhappy living in the DC area, B) sarcastic/bitter as all get out, or C) a self selecting sample of people who choose to get online and bitch. Perhaps a combination of one or more.

So let's hear it - do you live in the area because you enjoy it? Because your job is here and you don't mind it? Or are you actively trying to leave?

I've lived in NoVa for a long time and plan to get the fuck out of here after the housing market rebounds in this area. If it never rebounds, I'm still leaving within the decade.

I plan on moving to a predominately white, openly racist area that has a bunch of "evil white racist bastards" who own guns, land, normal kids, and live in an environment free of transvestites, niggers, spics, fags, insane religious freaks, politcal hacks, business bitches, coorporate slaves, and in general - free of degenerate, amoral, weak pussies who care only about the number of digits in their bank account and their work title.

NoVa is full of fools and will eventually fall to the minorities. I will be looking forward to it and hearing about all the anti-gun leftards getting killed by their pet niggers and spics who will surely be packing heat.

May you all rot in hell on Earth.

The traffic stress-level has increased a lot in the last few years.

Graduate next semester. Have a 6 figure job lined up.

Fuck this place. Best thing is, I've been here 4 years, and didn't become a resident or pay State/local taxes. Not one penny.

My little "fuck you" to this shitty place.

What's your profession and are you graduating from Mason? Also where are you moving to? Is it snow white?

Is that the main complaint from people? I'm wondering whether there are things specific to DC that people here really hate or if it's more city/suburban life in general? The DC area seems like it has a lot going for it compared to other cities so I'm somewhat surprised by the levels of negativity.

If it wasn't for the many job opportunities available, I'd be out of here in a second. Been here 30 years.

No sales tax, huh. No car tax either. No phone or utility taxes. No meals taxes. No property taxes paid through your landlord. Amazing!

Good riddance, asswipe. It's plain that you never fit in here. Unfortunately, you will never fit in anywhere else either. Sucks to be you -- or anyone who knows you.

It has been my observation over the years that there is far more bitching and moaning on message boards and forums of all types and in all areas than there are people being positive.

And truth be told a very high percentage of the posts on FFXU are coming from a small number of people.

How did you determine the truth of this? Traffic analysis suggests some 13,000 unique visitors per day. Is that a small number?

Hardly ate out, didn't purchase anything. Hmmm me thinks he doesn't have any friends to go out with, no women in his life apart from the occasional backpage hooker. Having no friends will make you miserable, regardless of where you are.

Actually if he is an illegal immigrant then according to Liberals it is perfectly okay. However, if he is white, he should pay 1,000,000 in restitution to the state.

Nope. According to VA law, unless I intended to make VA my permanent domicile, I am not required to do so.

I'm at the stage where I have downsized greatly. I don't need to make the level of income that I'm making now, but I'm just building up my savings while here. Would love to find someplace warmer to live. After nearly 3 decades, I think I've had enough of NoVA.

Live in Buffalo for 18 years, Queens for 6 years and come back at me. You don't know what a shithole really is, you have it good.

Things are okay. If it weren't for the crime. We don't necessarily have a high crime rate in the DC metro area, but the crime that does happen is quite brutal.

White kids getting beat up by blacks in Adams Morgan after the bars close

White METRO riders being attacked by "black youths" weekly.

TC Maslin getting his skull crushed in by black guys and is now a vegetable.

David Rosenbaum getting his skull smashed by black guys and killed whilst out walking

Kevin Shifflett getting decapitated by a crazed black man while playing in his front yard.

Kevin Joseph Sutherland, being stabbed 40 times by a 18 year old black guy on the METRO and not a word from the media.

The ENTIRE Savopoulos family being murdered with their nanny by black guys.

I'm sure there are more, but that what sticks out.

I must be the only one who loves it here. Close to the mountains and beaches. Lots of cultural activities. Plenty of groups to get involved in. Lots of decent paying jobs. Better car laws than California and some other states.

I personally dislike this area and the amount of sluts, niggers, spics, degenerates, and overall lifeless drones who work their entire lives for basically overpriced shit BUT I still have a good time here treating people I don't like, like complete shit and walking around in the warzone that is NoVa.

This is an ultra competitive environment filled with every type of psychopath and asshole. I enjoy trolling all of them and making their lives miserable. Northern Virginians overall in the DC Metro area are sociopathic losers who measure their lives by their job and paycheck. They are characterless opportunists who are totally screwed in any real situation where they can't just call the police or backstab someone to solve their problems.

The DC area has the great potential to become an overcrowded shithole with in the next couple of decades to the point where violent attacks are not just a daily basis, as of now, but an hourly basis. The city will become MORE of a multicultural cesspool, tensions will rise, people will suffer, and others will die. It is basically inevitable and I look forward to my predictions coming true. I do have some damn good friends in NoVa but we all realize what a bunch of tools and fools live here. Without the government, this area will collapse immediately.

Great advice. Living close to where you work and various activities means a better quality of life. If you want more "quantity" then you have to move further out and risk the chance of being more miserable as you'll spend more time in traffic.

Born and raised in this area. I used to love it, but over the years I've grown to hate it. It has gotten so damn crowded and over-developed it's horrible. Every time you drive by an area you haven't been to in a month or two there's less trees and more shitty offices or apartments or Mcmansions.
I am more than ready to leave this area and head down to Richmond.

The two complaints that have any merit at all are the traffic (during rush hour) and the high cost-of-living. Of course EVERY major metropolitan area will have those two problems to some degree, and they are not actually any worse here than they are in many other places.

The rest of the whining typically amounts to the simple venting of personal failure and frustration. Things haven't worked out here as some had hoped, so they whine. It has nothing to do with the area itself. Some people also decide that their problems must all result from the presence of blacks, Latinos, Hindus, Muslims, atheists, liberals, or just plain people who make more money than they do, live in nicer houses than they do, and drive what are perceived as cooler cars than they do. The envy/butthurt problem of "Why can't I have that?" pops up often in these pages, but the whiners are not quite sharp enough to see the answer to that question that is staring them right in the face.

In truth, this area has a great deal to offer anyone who is not intimidated by having more smart people around than might be usual. The climate here is 4-season and variable but temperate overall. We don't have any native natural disasters to worry about or plan for. In season, both surfing and skiing are an easy day-trip away. We have plenty of water and a beautiful hilly, wooded topography dotted with lakes and streams through which there are beaucoup de really nice bike and hiking paths and trails. The Redskins may be an exception, but We otherwise do have a wide range of top-notch cultural, educational, medical, sports, and entertainment options available, and most places are at least close to a cornucopia of first-rate shopping and dining facilities. Taxes in the area are low. The local school systems are quite good. Public transit is available in much of the area. It is in general an easy and quite pleasant place to live if you can handle the traffic and cost-of-living issues and wouldn't mind neighbors who might well have a masters or doctoral degree.

Wrong. DC/NOVA has THE worst traffic in the nation. Worse than LA or NYC, and not even half as populated.

Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to require titling or registration in the Commonwealth of any farm tractor or special construction and forestry equipment, as defined in § 46.2-100.

Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section, provided such vehicle is registered and titled elsewhere in the United States, nothing in this chapter shall be construed to require titling or registration in the Commonwealth of any vehicle located in the Commonwealth if that vehicle is registered to a non-Virginia resident active duty military service member, activated reserve or national guard member, or mobilized reserve or national guard member living in Virginia."

You are flat-out fucked, dude!

Wrong...

Va. Code §58.1-302 defines an individual’s domicile as his permanent place of residence and the place to which he intends to return, even though he may reside elsewhere from time-to-time. Section 302 suggests that objective factors such as: financial independence, business pursuits, employment, income sources, residence for federal income tax purposes, marital status, residence of parents, spouse and children, if any, sites of personal and real property owned or leased by the individual, motor vehicle and other personal property registration, and voter registration be taken into consideration in determining an individual’s domicile.

Further guidance in determining an individual’s domicile for Virginia tax purposes is provided by 23 VAC 10-110-30. This regulation provides that an individual has only one domicile and, once established, continues until the individual moves to a new location with a bona fide intention to make his fixed and permanent home there. Thus, a change in domicile requires two concurrent actions — residence in a new locale and the intention to remain there indefinitely. The regulation also states no single factor is determinative in determining domicile but all relevant factors must be examined collectively to determine whether the intent to acquire or abandon a Virginia domicile exists. However, the regulation states that the return of an individual to Virginia within six months after moving from the Commonwealth is prima facie evidence that the individual did not intend to move his domicile from Virginia. Finally, the regulation imposes the burden the burden of proving abandonment or failure to establish domicile in Virginia on the individual seeking to avoid a Virginia domicile.

I've lived here in the area since 1991, was brought here against my willing since i was a military brat at the time. I left the area in early 2000 but the tragedy of 911 caused me to lose my job at the time and i moved here for another job. Now after almost 15 years that job is what keeps me here. I have another 15 years to go before i can retire and once that happens i'm outta here.

Ding-ding-ding. We looked all over the place. Europe, the Atlantic Coast, the Gulf Coast, Central America, both halves of the Pacific Coast, Hawaii. We never found a place that seriously tempted us to give up all that we have here. We have roots and family here. We have tons of stuff to see and do here. We know how to live here. Why would we want to give all that up and start over? This is what people who have somehow been driven from their lands have to go through. Why would we want to do that voluntarily? Instead, we spent a few years and some spare change redoing the place to address later-life instead of mid-life needs and concerns, and here we still are a decade later, enjoying life as we always have. I feel so sorry for those who move away with their great hopes and expectations, only to discover that they don't enjoy golf or fishing as much as they thought they did but now can't afford to move back to the life they foolishly left behind. Wasting away in Margaritaville is not really something to aspire to, as far as I can tell.

Once again you demonstrate only the consistency of your complete and abject stupidity. For one thing, these pop-media data are based on estimates of average commute times. No detail on what the ranges around those averages might be. And all those averages end up being within 15 minutes of each other. Like an average commute of 29.5 minutes is actually going to be "better" than an average commute of 31.5 minutes. Get real, moron! And of course the pointless rankings come out differently from study to study. Here are the results from a University of Michigan study published last May...

1. New York (39.7)
2. Chicago (33.7)
3. Philadelphia (32.0)
4. San Francisco (31.5)
5. Baltimore (30.5)
6. Los Angeles (29.9)
7. Washington, DC (29.9)
8. Boston (29.5)
9. San Jose (27.3)
10. Detroit (26.8)

Kind of fucks your stupid thesis in the ass, doesn't it, dipshit.

If you could support a claim that you are either military or not actually here, then things might be different, but for the purposes of this thread, you have already claimed that you ARE in fact here, but are such a clever little snot that you can get away with breaking laws willy-nilly. What you actually are of course is just a babbling dumbfuck lying asshole who quite literally doesn't know what he is talking about on any topic at all. You're awfully stupid, as if THAT needed any repetition. It was YOU who made the asswipe claim that DC has the worst traffic in the country. That was a Big Mistake. It is child's play to find highly reputable sources that are in sharp contrast and disagreement with such dimbulb claims. As the result, you are left with no actual legs to stand on, which equates to falling on your ass. Yet again.

True today, but it wasn't always the case. You'd have to go back 50-60 years of course, but in those days everything worth a damn was inside the Beltway while everything else was a backward, remote, and redneck-infested boondocks that no one with any sort of choice wanted any part of.

Then came the migrations and the jobs and the development and the transportation, and before you knew it, the tables had been turned completely. The rednecks were driven off and a wide swath of progress came along to take their place. The land along 123 and between 495 and 286 has blossomed to become the land of all the NoVa milk and honey, while many areas inside the Beltway struggle to remain relevant at all.

It's tough to see the future of course, but at this point, it's hard to see how any sort of "turn back the clock" thing is going to happen. It looks like "Inside the beltway = poop" is going to hold for at least another generation or two.

I hate this area. As soon as our kids graduate, we are moving. Lots of entitled people who live in this area. Sadly most lack common sense and social skills. We moved here so our kids could understand diversity. Everyone here is about being the best, wearing the best, having the best and treating others differently. Not like NY, Philadelphia, and NJ. People there will strike up a conversation with anyone. People here walk past you and don't even make eye contact as they are so above the average Joe.

I was born and raised/lived in Fairfax County for 50 years.

1) Rush hour sucks: 30 minutes for every 5 miles, guaranteed;

2) People are self-centered, egotistical, materialistic. It's 'Who you know; how much you make; how big your house is;

3) Stores NEVER have enough cashiers, no matter night or day;

4) Too many Asians taking over shopping centers;

5) Too many Hispanics;

6) Too many mosques;

7) Ffx Cty government needs a MAJOR overhaul. I was actually told that because I was single my 'service' benefits were put on the back-burner;

Shall I go on? Thank GOD I met a man who lived outSIDE of Virginia and we've moved to Tennessee, where the people are genuine, nice and respectful ... and there are hardly ANY Asians, Hispanics or Muslims.

God bless Fairfucks County.

I agree with everything but how could you forget the amount of worthless niggers that are basically zombies that infest VA, DC, and Maryland. I think the worst blacks live in cities, I've met SOME good ones from other areas. All the niggers around here though are so full of shit, think they are smart when they are fucking retarded lol, have some BS govt job or some other affirmative action job, and are always 1 step away from a MASSIVE CHIMPOUT.
