Verizon phone service outage

I was trying to make a phone call Thursday morning, and I didn't get a dial tone. I tried calling my neighbors from my cell phone, and it didn't ring. I called Verizon from my cell, and apparently their phone lines are out. They said they expected to have the lines back up by Saturday at 9 PM. Seems like they should be trying a little harder than that, but that's just me.

I have no idea how far this reaches - I'm in Brookfield on Newport Dr. Anybody else having this problem and/or know anything about why?

How long had your phone been out?

Mine have been out since Thursday morning, although I suppose they could have gone out Wednesday night while I was sleeping.

So I guess it's a local thing then. Still seems like Verizon should care enough to get the phones working before Saturday night.

I would say screw em and get different service, but unless you can rely on your cell phone, Verizon is the only PSP

YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A CASE OF SERVICE OUTAGE

service outage means continual outages or days of outage

for all you know they were upgrading your service and the downtime for doing the job was minimal

in the early 90's the internet continually went down: but the telephone was never ever down (despite it was: run by AT&T Unix built and owned by USA, and Ma Bell of course!)

Bad equipment and foreign hacked software (or foreign owned companies attacking usa with outages) CAN AND DO cause frequent outages and days of outage

THAT is why you hear about hostile take-over purchases (ie, by germany or china) being called "illegal" in the news. And you don't hear it enough.

Foreign controlled telephone lines should be illegal.

Germany currently claims, on wikipedia, it owns and has HQ for: AT&T, Verizon, and other phone companies using the old usa label to fool usa consumers
