"Staff members at the nearby nonprofit The L@mb Center said they knew Rios well and that he had just been there on Saturday for Bible study."

Have at it boys.

Destruction of property huh? Sounds like his little abode is what got destroyed..wonder what happened to all of his stuff.

I've seen other homeless people living in the woods around Fairfax in little make shift tents - I guess that's o.k. but if they dig out a little burrow for themselves that steps over the line.

Who the fuck were the Muslims walking through the woods at van Dyck? Maybe we should be more concerned about that as this doesn't appear to be something easily seen from any of the trails there.
There are a shitload of them living in Layton Hall apartments. Those apartments were supposed to be torn down and replaced with something that wasn't low income and sucks less, but that got nixed. Where would the Syrian refugees have gone?
I remember being up there some night and there were groups of them praying under the shelter. Always seemed a bit odd.

Van Dyck looks like downtown Fallujah most days now.

As far as this guy, at least he made an effort to make something for himself. Learning English too? Spring this guy from jail and get him a job building green bomb shelters. It'll be a minority owned small business as well, so liberals will eat that shit up

The news coverage yesterday showed the inside of his little home, and the contents included materials that he was using to learn to speak English. There were other personal items, but there were no beer/liquor containers, and nothing drug related.

He has the drive to better himself, and sending him to jail is just wrong.

There is a homeless guy who has basically built a little shack on the top of the knoll at Braddock Road and the Fairfax County Parkway. It's like he just decided to take over the property. Not sure why nobody has done anything about it. I feel sorry for the guy, but it doesn't seem like anyone should be able to just establish residency on public property.

Leave him alone. What do you care? Is he hurting you? Just your feelings.

^^^ This! So many bitch about 'mexicans or muslims' not speaking english, leeching off the government, not working hard, etc.

This dude shows no evidence of any of the racist 'trigger words'. He even built his own house with a small shovel and spade.

I bet he'll do all right. He'll take what he can use and leave the rest alone. Whatever comes his way, he'll use as leverage. Some people are just like that. That's what makes America a great place. Opportunity abounds; or it use to.

When you're down, it's hard to get up. It's just the course of life. What little headway you make, gets kicked out from under you and you're back where you started from. Two steps forward, two steps back until you get a break. Hopefully, those government bennies won't turn him into a lazy greedy leech or worse, a democrat. Oh wait, that's the same thing.

This guy is a gamer and I applaud him! Smart to build near the Cop shop as its safer. Looks like a nice cave too. He studied down there. I bet if he had another 6 months he would be out living in an apartment somewhere. So he was living in a cave for free now he is in jail, with a record, costing us all hundreds a day to incarcerate.

This world is completely backwards. Just give the man some shelter and a 25 dollar ticket with the option to work the payment off.

The proximity to the Police Station is very disturbing. What was the real reason for digging the hole? Counter surveillance? Potential terrorist strike? We can't just have these Filthy Muslim Jihad terrorist types digging holes on public lands.

Indeed, it would give RACIST DUMBFUCKS more to bitch about.

I would pay him extra not to reinforce your chill cave.

Why shouldn't people be allowed to dig large underground structures on public property? Clearly this man was learning to speak English in his cave, therefore all laws governing property ownership and stewardship should be roundly ignored.

Anyone who objects to immigrant learning caves is a racist. DEEERPEE DEEERPEE DOOO!

HE WAS READING, BIGOT!!!!!!

No shit! Where was all the dirt, rocks and tree roots? That's a huge hole. It must have taken him at least a month to dig that out. And who helped him? Other Syrian refugees? Only muslims know how to dig such holes.

Maybe he put it into trash bags and took it back to the dumpster at the L@mb Center. It sounds like was a regular there.

He's from Central America. Syria is in the Middle East.
His name is a Spanish/Portuguese version of Joshua (an Old Testament/Hebrew name)
He was also at bible class when they discovered the cave.

So there goes your Muslim/Syria paranoia.

Keep on derpin' in the free world.

I'm just glad they did find any bodies in the cave. He could have been snagging kids or adults from the park and pulling them down there!
