Lousy Cop

I read the boards here, and personally i'm shocked by how much trash you guys talk about cops. I've gotten tickets but thats b/c I'm dumb and have a lead foot, why blame them for doing their job. Either you don't care or you forget how much they really do for this community. I am proud to be a Fairfax County Citizen and to be protected by one of the top police departments on the east coast. Does anyone remember the Sully shooting? Does anyone care how many elementary school aged children lost a parent that day? You disrespect every law enforcement officer who has given their life in the line of duty. *sigh* I'm really disgusted and don't know what to say. So read below. This makes a good point:

Me, The lousy Cop
Well, Mr. Citizen, I guess you've got me all figured out. I seem to fit neatly into the category you placed me in. I'm stereotyped, standardized, classified, grouped and always typical ... I'm the "Lousy Cop." Unfortunately, the reverse isn't true because I can never figure you out. From birth, you teach your children that I'm the bogeyman who will take them to jail if they are bad, rather than someone to go to when they need help, and then you are shocked when they identify me with my traditional enemy, the criminal.

You accuse me of coddling juveniles, until I catch your kid doing something wrong. Then, I must surely be mistaken because you know that your child would never do anything like that. Yeah, right, I have nothing I'd rather do than make up a story about your child and then have to hassle with hours of paperwork so a judge can let him go before I am through. You make take an hour for lunch and several coffee breaks each day, but point me out as a loafer if you see me having just one cup. You pride yourself on your polished manners, but think nothing of interrupting my meal with your troubles.

You raise hell about the guy that cut you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing, and I am picking on you and should be out there catching the real criminals. You were only keeping up with traffic when I caught you doing 40 mph in that school zone. You know all the traffic laws, But you never got a single ticket you deserved. You cry "foul" if you see me driving fast in route to an emergency call, but literally raise hell if I take more than 10 seconds responding to your call. You call it part of my job if someone strikes me, but it's police brutality if I strike back.

You wouldn't think of telling a dentist how to pull a badly decayed tooth, or your doctor how to remove your appendix, but you are always willing to give me a few pointers on law enforcement, in which you have absolutely no training.

You talk to me in a manner and use language that is offensive, then expect me to stand there and take it without batting an eye. You cry that something has to be done about all the crimes, but you can't be bothered with getting involved. So when you call the police, you refuse to give your name or address or phone number so I can gather information necessary to do anything about the problem you called about. Then you complain because I didn't do anything.

You've got no use for me at all, but of course, it's okay if I stop and change a tire for your wife or deliver your child in the backseat of my patrol car on the way to the hospital. Or it's okay if I save your son's life with mouth to mouth resuscitation, or maybe work many hours overtime to find your lost daughter while my wife and kids wait for me or miss the concert we had tickets for.

So, Mr. Citizen, you stand there on your soapbox and rant and rave about the way I do my job. You gripe because my union tries to make sure I get a decent salary and benefits, but you wouldn't do the job for twice the salary. And although you are retired and drawing two pensions and paying lower taxes than I do because of your age, I am not supposed to want or need a pension or retirement benefits.

You call me every name in the book, but never stop for a minute to think that your property, your family, or maybe your life might depend on one person... me or one of my buddies. Who are you going to call when you need help ... a criminal or me, the lousy cop.

If I ever told a cop that instead of pulling me over for doing 95/55 when there is no one on the road, he should be out catching bank robbers, then I would be damn right.

Otherwise, that makes an interesting point.

I dont think there is anything wrong with posting a message about the airport cops running radar. I dont see why they are running radar five miles away from the airport when they have better things to do. Such as keep the traffic moving in the front of the terminal or catch the baggage handlers stealing luggage. First and foremost they are supposed to be focusing on terrorists. That is why there is an extra fee added to all airline tickets to pay for the security added since 911.
We have fairfax and state police doing radar on the toll road isnt that enough?

finally! it's about time they started giving out tickets for people being dumb.

no.

occupational hazard aka own damn fault.

cops arent that bright.

i was taught cops were to protect the public. my experience has taught me that cops only protect each other and treat everyone else like trash because they have an ego the size of the moon. if you bruise that ego, they will abuse their power to hurt you and sometimes even attack you.

> You pride yourself on your polished

yeah... that's a JOB. sysadmins have pagers that wake them at 4am when the backups fail. i dont see you giving a flying fuck.

> You raise hell about the guy that cut you off in

i have never complained about being cut off. besides, that is a "civil disobedience," not a crime.

> You cry "foul" if you see me driving
> fast in route to an emergency call

ive never actually cried "foul" nor been angry about a cop that is driving fast in route to an emergency call. i cry foul when i see a cop do a U-turn at a red light when there is a no U-turn sign and doesnt even put lights on and almost hits me.

> but literally raise hell if I take more than 10 seconds

it would seem cops dont know the meaning of literally.

> You call it part of my

i call it police brutality if it's the police who strike first.

that's because dentists and doctors know how to do their job. they spend seven years in study and training just getting to the point where they do the job, not a six week coarse that has an effect for a few months.

> You talk to me in a manner and use language that

in an office job it's all candy and laughs... wait...

yeah... that goes over real well everywhere else though: "fix your own damn computer!" *click*

umm... who the hell would do that? that is stupid.

> You've got no use for me at all, but of course,

see, now that is stupid shit. i hate the little miss prissy who cant change a tire if her life depended on it. let her stupid ass get hit by traffic.

> or deliver your child in the backseat of my

who wouldnt help someone in that situation?!

> Or it's

fuck those kids. if you drown or get lost, it's your own damn fault.

> while my wife and kids
> wait for me or miss the concert we had tickets

that's what being "on call" means. cops are not the only ones. production goes down and damn right ill be missing a concert to get that shit back up.

> So, Mr. Citizen, you stand there on your soapbox

Mr. Citizen rants and raves about everyone. deal with it.

> You gripe because my union tries to make sure I get a

twice the salary to act like an ass, tout my moral superiourity and be impervious to all laws? hell yeah i'd do that job.

> You call me every name in the book, but never stop

id rather depend on a gun than you or one of your buddies.

isnt that a little redundant?

"You raise hell about the guy that cut you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing"

Would never happen. Cops ignore that sort of thing. The only traffic laws they seem to want to enforce are the ones where they can rely on a radar gun to determine if someone's violating.

I like dead cops and I cannot lie,
Other brothers can not deny,
When a cop corpse comes in with an itty-bitty entry wound
And an exit wound in the face,
You get sprung! Want to pull up tough,
Don't you know that cop was stuffed (with lead).

Yea I do. I remember the Sully shooting that day. I do recall the female Commanders at Sully hiding under their desks that day looking in General Orders trying to figure out what to do? And ordering officers not to go outside because it was dangerous. But officers didn't listen and they mounted rescue efforts to the 2 fallen officers and the bad guy was taken out. But what happened. They got promoted. That is what is wrong with FCPD. Way to go Rohrer with your minority promotions. Idiot.

Oh, gimme a break. I have dealt with dirty cops and a dirty old pervert cop raped my mom when see was a teenager, then threaten to arrest her family if she ever told. The family was dirt poor and she lived in fear for years. Cops prey on poor people every day. If you pass by one they look down their nose in disgust at you. I'm not buying I am so innocent and protect and serve crap. And yes, I do teach my kids to stay away from cops.

There was a time cops deserved respect. Long ago, far away.

Today, cop and lousy in the same sentence is redundant. Nothing but a bunch of pedophiles and gang members. They don't even have the balls to join a real gang.
