McAuliffe Signs Executive Order Today He Says Will "keep guns out of dangerous hands"
Posted by: eesh ()

http://wtvr.com/2015/10/15/governor-orders-gun-ban/

The governor's executive order is divided into six parts (scroll down for specifics):

1. Establish Joint Task Force to Prosecute Gun Crimes

2. Authorize Attorney General to Coordinate and Bring Criminal Cases Against Firearms Law Offenders

3. Establish Tip Line for Illegal Gun Activity

4. Trace Guns Used in Crime

5. Encourage Judges and Prosecutors to Seek Gun Forfeiture in Felony and Other Cases

6. Banning Firearms in State Government Buildings

"The actions directed in this executive order will help our Commonwealth better enforce Virginia laws designed to keep guns away from people who would use them for harm," Governor McAuliffe said.

"The task force I have convened will take tangible steps to bring more successful prosecutions of gun crimes, and the other steps outlined in the order will aid in our efforts to keep families safe from gun violence.

We must continue to work to overcome political resistance to commonsense gun safety legislation, but in the mean time I am committed to using every power of my office to prevent senseless killings."

6. Banning Firearms in State Government Buildings

So another "Gun Free Zone" for the next mass shooting when someone on the State Government Teet is whacked out!

So does this mean no protective officers will be armed?

Sorry, this is nothing more than a ground of political agenda items.

The mental health aspect is again overlooked.

It is far easier for someone to notify the DMV that a person should not be driving and their driving privileges are revoked then to alert the system that someone should not be sold a firearm.

But like anything, just because someone does not have a drivers license does not mean they will not get behind the wheel and drive a car.

1. We need a task force to prosecute crimes? Since when?
2.The AG isn't already authorized to bring criminal cases against gun law violators? Since when?
3. A "tip line"? Fine. $20/mo for that. Good luck with getting any calls.
4. We don't trace guns used in crimes? Since when?
5. A felony conviction already results in not being allowed to own a gun.
6. Ah, a ban. THAT will tell criminals that we just don't allow law breaking.

Good job,Terry.

McAuliffe presented this executive order as a confrontation of the NRA. It is not, it is just self aggrandizing hype and political cannon fodder for some of the more uninformed progressives.

The NRA already supports all of these law enforcement measures. The NRA has never opposed tougher legal sanctions for those convicted of violent gun crimes. To imply they did is being dishonest.

I am not sure where the NRA stands on officially the ban of firearms in government buildings but I doubt they have much confidence in what it means. Most people understand this just to mean another "gun free zone", which is an encouragement and not a deterrent to a seriously crazed mass shooter.

I guess you didn't get that far in elementary school before dropping out.

911 is for emergencies.

You know, I'm kinda sorry society failed you that you are actually this fucking stupid.

Yes, because criminals with guns will be impacted. More gun free zones? Crazies and psychos will thank McAuliffe for making their jobs easier...more sheep for the slaughter.

Not mad at all. Just amused with his stupidity. If you see an armed robbery in progress are you going to call the tip line or 911?

Guns are now part of the male compensation package. Every home once had a firearm but men didn't come online to brag about it. What's with these boys nowdays? Gotta brag about ownership. False bravado or feeling inadequate?
No one is coming for your gun(s). Just restricting some locations so you will now have to act like an adult.
How many have had a weapon pointed at them in this Country? Call of Duty discounted.

I just saw my homosexual state senator Adam Ebbins on News Channel 8 and he was a complete moron. I am not sure what part of the executive order he understands if any at all.

He insisted that the order would "keep guns out of the hands of bad people" in response to criticism from some Loudoun repub who rightfully scoffed at the notion of "gun free zones" preventing psychotic mass shooters.

Ebbins could have defended the order by defining and listing instances of legally carried and owned weapons causing problems in government buildings if there are any such instances. I really don't think this clown has any clue what he is talking about. No part of the EO prevents any bad people from getting guns.

The tip line is fine, it's a TIP LINE, not an emergency line. It is meant as a tool for people to dime out illegal gun traffickers specifically.

Link to the full Executive Order: https://governor.virginia.gov/media/4685/eo-50-on-gun-violence-final.pdf

The paragraph of interest is towards the very end: "I further order the Director of DGS, within 30 days of the date of this Executive Order, to propose regulations to ban the carrying of concealed weapons in offices occupied by executive branch agencies, unless held by law enforcement, authorized security, or military personnel authorized to carry firearms in accordance with their duties."

Places you can't carry concealed in VA: schools and churches (along with courthouses, airports, restaurants with an ABC license if drinking, or anywhere while under the influence)
Places where mass shootings happen: schools and churches

The gun tip line is a perfectly constitutional law enforcement tool. It is not recommended to be used as an emergency or 911 line.

McAuliffe is making headline grabbing steps that he can showcase to his uninformed progressive base and appear to be going toe to toe with the NRA. The truth is that the NRA supports stricter law enforcement measures.

McAUliffe could have pushed for legislation that would help prevent people with aspergers, autism and bipolar from getting firearms. He could have pushed to ban those on psychotic medications from getting firearms, but he avoided that fight.

Actually preventing dangerous people form getting firearms would be picking a fight with the big pharmaceutical companies and the huge number of progressives who are on Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Cymbalta, Lexapro etc.

It was classic Clinton. Run a 3rd party "libertarian" to siphon off their opponent's voters. Sarvis was funded by an Obama bundler and pulled off more than enough votes from Cooch to let McAwful squeak in. lol

More like about 97,000 women with concealed carry permits in VA. About 25% of permit holders, up from about 15% in less than 10 years. They're the fastest growing group of new permit holders at about 3X the rate of men. Minority women even more so. They're also more likely to purchase a gun for personal protection purposes and to carry it.

I understand Ex orders 1 to 5 as being in his sandbox, But #6 . Is it not true that only the General Assembly can write gun law in Virginia? So his order is unlawful.

He's not The big "O". Just a puppet of the Big O.

Va Law/Fed law is not the same with these Ex orders. Of course the Big O's signed many unlawful ones. But he's the "Big O" and can get by with it.

And with that said. I don't need to carry any guns in "Executive Offices of The Commonwealth", Or even any State offices. But The Law is The Law..Unless its Not The Law..LOL.

All in all as others have said he looks like he's ordering what the NRA has asked Fed, State and Local LEO'S to do for years as there are 20000 some gun laws already on the books.

Now Lets Count Um

#1 "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

"Bill Of Rights" U.S. Constitution

No Need to count to to 20000. Done Deal..

From Whom, Not From Maryland Bridge Police. "Fast Terry" Defacto Gov. Of Maryland. For his veto of a overwhelmingly passed General Assembly Bill of withholding CCW info from Maryland Police, as some of them who are Thugs. Pulling over Law abiding Virginians because of a license plate scan that showed they had a legal CCW in Va. Tossing their cars looking for their guns that were left at home in Virginia.

Democrats..Liberals.. Idiots! It would be way funny except these same idiots want to disarm the American people despite the writings of the Bill Of Rights. They don't have a clue what the Constitution is either.

Freedom is just another "disposal item" to them. They can't see it so they don't need it..

The founders allowed the people to Own Cannon. The most powerful "Weapon of war only designed to be on a Battlefield" , And that beats the shit out of any "Assault Firearm and gives the phrase

"The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed"

Real meaning..

Tell that to that shit head Federal Appeals Court Judge who used the yardstick of "What Firearms the Founders Had" To declare modern guns can be banned

"Heller did not establish a right to keep any weapon for any purpose, Judge Frank Easterbrook wrote for the majority on the three-judge panel. The Supreme Court did not question long-standing federal bans on fully automatic machine guns and sawed-off shotguns, which have no legitimate purpose in the hands of civilians, he added. The question, said Easterbrook, is: "Where does the balance of danger lie?"

To answer that query, Easterbrook examined whether the Highland Park ban affected weapons common at the time of the ratification of the Second Amendment (no"
