Unfortunately no one seat ride. From Pentagon, Metrobus 7Y goes into downtown DC
https://www.wmata.com/bus/timetables/VA/7a-y.pdf may be your best option.
Some other downtown destinations covered if can get to Rosslyn station, this may require a short cheap Uber or taxi trip from Pentagon (way quicker than any bus connections between the two points). At Rosslyn, both Metrobus 38B (Orange line with a view) and 5A (only to L'EnFant Plaza) run into DC from there.
If that does not work for you, Metro's trip planner
https://www.wmata.com/rider_tools/tripplanner/tripplanner_form_solo.cfm? entering your starting and ending points and select the Bus only option. Also systemwide bus maps at
https://www.wmata.com/bus/maps/ and include Metrobus, Fairfax Connector, etc.
