Take a look at Sterling Arsenal at 201 Davis.

Depends on what you are looking for.

Best over all selection I would say Virginia Arms Co. in Manassas. Has your most popular calibers.

2nd I would have to say would be Quantico Tactical in Woodbridge. Mostly 223/556 and hand gun ammo.

If you want hunting ammo, I would say most likely Dicks

Oh I forgot the newer place down by Potomac Mills....Mountain something has prob the best selection but not cheap.

Gander Mountain. That is I place I was thinking of. Most likely the widest selection but some of the highest prices unless you are lucky and get a good sale.

The shipping online isn't that bad actually if you're buying 10+ boxes of ammo.

Shipping seems to be about 13.00 everywhere for any amount of ammo, so you can actually save money if you buy in bulk.

To help you we need to know how gay or math-challenged you are. It's got to be one or the other.

Since intellectual debate is out of the question, you would rather suck the OP's cock.

The ammo selection at Gander Mountain in Woodbridge beats every other gun store by a mile. It's not even close whether you are talking different calibers or total quantity. All the other gun stores and places like Walmart and Dicks just sell the top 10 most popular calibers. The down side is that the prices at Gander are high.

Why is the anti gun crowd so obsessed with penises, sex toys, and other obscenities?

Im genuinely wondering, because they always seem to bring it up when their argument has been reduced to debating with their emotions rather than facts.

There are many gun forums for which ammo questions may be addressed. The real facts are this is an open forum where ignorant questions require stupid responses. Now remove your sex toy from your anus and suck it.

This is a local forum about things in Fairfax and the question was about local stores in Fairfax. I don't see the issue at all. In fact, it seems as though local questions like this are why this forum exists.

Stop letting your emotions cloud logical thinking.

I just like to fantasize about people sucking cock and it turns me on to post my fantasies in gun threads. Harmless, I suppose.

I picked up 1,000 rounds of Federal 9mm FMJ at the last gun show for $220. Online, it's normally around $250 plus shipping.

Not bad

Ive seen champion online for $230 and American eagle for $270 with free shipping.

Check targetsportsusa.com

They have the best online prices I know of on a lot of stuff and free shipping on a lot of bigger orders.

Yeah, I currently have over 4k rounds of 9mm and almost 6k rounds of 223/5.56. I practice with both weapons 2-3 times/week so I use a lot of ammo. I get ammo when I see online specials from some of the ammo sources I have. HD ammo is a different story. I use hollow point 5.56 as well as HST 124 grain. There's rarely a deal on that stuff.

Also check out ammoseek.com

It aggregates ammo prices from hundreds of websites and lists them lowest to highest. You have take a few moments to sift through the result for what you want, but it seems to be updated on the fly. Its also goodd for hard to find calibers or brands.

HST 124 is my favorite self defense ammo in 9mm as well.

Its hard to find though. For some reason I think federal has stopped selling it in the past few months.

You can find it at the gun show (Nations Gun Show).

I love how HST is probably the best there is in 9mm SD ammo and its relatively inexpensive compared to other stuff. only if I could find it. I've got about 250 left.

got any leads on it?

See above. Some vendors at the gun show in Dulles Expo sell it. Not cheap, but it's the best.

Just looked at the ammo seek link. I wish the HST was less expensive these days, I got it for $0.60 a round last year in the batch im still working on. I still wonder why the availability sucks.

The company that owns federal cartridge had a big restructuring a couple months ago and I hope they aren't planning on eliminating the 50 round boxes in favor for the 20 round box at twice the price per round. That was my first thought when the HSTs were getting harder and harder to find.

Still looks like the 50 rounder is the norm though. For now.

For practice Speer Lawman TMJ 9mm in 115, 124, 147 is a good option too. its like 11.99-12.99 a box of 50 and they're quality too.

A few years ago, Homeland Security decided to buy 450,000,000 (yes, 450 million) rounds of HST in 40 cal as part of their 1,600,000,000 (yes, 1.6 billion) rounds. Federal put more resources into manufacturing that caliber.

That's a lot of ammunition.

Although with about 90,000 sworn federal law enforcement officers total, more or less, and spread over 5 years or so its not a terribly absurd number. Not to mention every agency has their own tactical squads now, which probably expend many many times as much ammo in training than their regular counterparts.

Not saying its right or wrong, but i can understand how the numbers get into the billions.

I'm not saying it's not necessary/justified. Just saying why some ammo might be a little scarce. ;)

Totally agree,

The guy is hands down the best youtube ammo tester. I admire his great appreciation for applying the scientific method to ammo tests and he explains everything very well.

He definitely knows his stuff and I wouldn't be surprised if he's done work for the industry based on the depths of his knowledge.

So how many times a day do you need self defense ammo?

It's obvious you don't know what you're talking about. One box of HD ammo might be good for someone who buys a gun and lets it collect dust. It's highly-recommended that a person also practice with their HD ammunition. Different ammo grain/manufacturer/etc shoots differently from a gun.

You some sorta expert? Combat Vet? Or just a gun nut wannabe who wastes his life researching guns and ammo 'cause you can't get no date.

Not that you'd believe me...I am prior military and highly-trained. Training never really ends though. I also compete (IPSC) and participate in the occasional tactical carbine course.

I'm not worried about dates. I have an amazing girlfriend.
