I am looking for a good HS my kids can go to.

What is your definition of "peaceful" and "good"? Because nothing is perfect.

^^ ones with no gangs or drug abusers. I know it's impossible to find one with zero. But I am looking for one where kids are least likely to be influenced.

Flint Hill but it will cost you some bucks.

For public, its probably T Jefferson but that comes with its own issues - like getting in. Its hard to beat Oakton as far as overall quality of HS lifestyle and minimal issues. Maybe Fairfax HS.

Stay away from Westfield, Chantilly, Centreville if you're concerned about drugs and cliques (not necessarily gangs).

I think some of the newer Loudon schools are pretty clean.

By peaceful you mean highly ranked and violence free? Understandable.

Fairfax High is actually very gang-free and not many fights occur. My kids goto the school currently and say that no "ghetto" or violent atmosphere exists at the school. Recently ranked #10 best high school in VA.

Also Oakton, Madison, Marshall, Langley, McLean, Woodson, Robinson, a few others would the general same environment.

Oakton for sure. Great school, Fairfax is a great school too. I'd center in on the Fairfax/Oakton area.

Peaceful? We're talking about high schools not countries going to war

In terms of overall environment, Madison, Oakton, McLean and West Springfield are the four best high schools in the county.

Mount Vernon is worth considering.

How come west fields has such high ratings?

Oakton is very good. Chantilly is better than many folks admit. In general, west end of the county and you're doing pretty well. My friend has several kids at Centreville and they like it.

East end of the county, Annandale and Mount Vernon and all that--what a freaking mess.

Eastern side of the county - more diversity, more lower income. Test scores are lower, stressful for teachers to help more students in need.

Western side of the county - less diversity, more higher income. Test scores are higher. Students have much more sense of entitlement.

Perfect "real world" balanced schools that are truly working middle class, nice communities that have some diversity but few problems - I'd say Robinson and Lake Braddock are the Goldilocks schools.

You'll be fine if you stay away from schools with lots of niggers and spics

I had one kid go to Lake Braddock and one to West Springfield. West Springfield is a little better than Lake Braddock and Lake Braddock may be a little better than Robinson. None of the 3 are bad, but if I had to do it over all my kids would go to St. Stephens and St. Agnes.

This is a stupid and uniformed comment. If you really think there is more drug use at these 3 schools than Oakton-Robinson-Lake Braddock-West Springfield-Madison-McLean... well, you are just deluding yourself. The more money kids have the more weed they use. End of story. Not really much difference between any of the aforementioned schools. Unless your kids goes into high school stupid, a punk or without any parental guidance they will do well any any of the above.

Woodson is a good school but has lots of drugs. The poor schools have less drugs and more 40oz drinkers like Mount Vernon

Look at the census results for each school. Stay away from the brown ones.

There's a very strong correlation between the number of blacks and the level of violence at any school, as well as an inverse relationship to academic performance. Sadly, it is illegal to speak the truth that everyone knows - there is a huge problem with black culture.

I think you are looking for Shangri-La High School. Sorry, it doesn't exist in this universe.

Robinson Secondary. Good Teachers, diverse (Whites, blacks, Asians, Hispanic etc.), Mostly MIDDLE CLASS (so there isn't rich snobby kids) and a good football team

Robinson has a white population of 60% and a small hispanic and black population. The school also pulls from alot of wealth, Clifton, Fairfax Station. But not a snobby rich culture at the school since it gets more middle class kids in Burke.

just avoid Mount Vernon HS at all costs and youll be fine. Even TJ has some drugs going through it but is kept very down low

The little cherubs at all of our FCPS HS are good and peaceful. I'm shocked that you would suggest otherwise!

Any school with a low concentration of nogs. Otherwise, your kids might as well try to learn while in the primate cages at Nat'l zoo.
