Fairfax School Board member, Ted Velkoff, is foolish and unrealistic. He believes FCPS must be given taxation authority to address the projected $100 million shortfall.

This is ridiculous. FCPS must address its shortfall through spending cuts. Velkoff continues to ignore residents and support preposterous initiatives such as the hiring of unqualified consultants.

The school board will not stop until it takes up 100% of the county budget, and then will demand even more. In an FCPS fantasy land, we would be left with crumbling roads, absolutely no parks or other county services, a disbanded police force - all to fund the schools.

These crazy "it is for the CHILDREN! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" education nazis need to pipe the fuck down. They will legalize casino gambling, meals taxes, and doubling real property taxes, all "for the children."

Very little of FCPS' fantasy budget helps the children.

FCPS has hired Eric Jensen (Jensen Education) on a sole source basis. Jensen claims expertise in poverty, neuroscience, and music. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and a Ph.D. in "organizational development" from an online school. His experience consists of being a motivational speaker. He supposedly teaches the teachers how to teach better. Sure.

FCPS has hired Menville "Flip" Flippen. Flippen claims to be a psychotherapist, but that's stretching the truth. In any case, such licensure as he does have is inactive. Like Jensen, he's really a motivational speaker. MVHS hired him, and the results clearly speak for themselves.

FCPS decided to build turf fields instead of buying science books. Now that decision was clearly for the children.

FCPS is all about power, money, and locked doors at Gatehouse. The children are just a means to an end. You could try asking McElveen, Moon, and Velkoff, but they tend not to respond to difficult questions.

What with the school board raise, board of supervisors raise, transgender gym and bathroom construction, and the need to pay off 100 million in school debt how much do we think taxes will go up?

Double is a number that's been around. Can anyone back this up? Taxes are too high as it is so doubling them so the schools can waste money seems pretty stupid to me.

And yes, Velkoff voted for the raise, Velkoff wants the school stop be able to enforce their own taxes so he is part of the problem.
