Dwight, if your MO on FFU is trying to get the "regulars" here to embrace hip hop and gangsta rap, you are probably wasting your time. Whether folks here know the 3rd track on Eminem's album or know the back story of Lil Wayne is not the point. Most of us here have known about rap since before you were born and are pretty sick of it. The subject matter never changes, the "artist's" are usually of 3rd or 4th grade intellect, it encourages illiteracy and often violence and gives young kids like you a false impression about real life and real talent.
Sure there may be few out there with an inkling of musicianship, but for the most part, it's shallow and banal drop outs that can't do anything else.
Here's a typical rap song.
1) Start off by yelling "yeah, yeah,uh huh" maybe mention the hood they're from.

2) Introduce themselves. Usually brag about how much money they have, how many girls they wish they were fucking or the guns they pose with.

3) Then they begin their rap about stupid shit (see above). Lots of cursing so the kids will think they're cool.

4) The "chorus" where suddenly someone with some talent (usually a singer) interjects with an actual melody in some cases. For a few moments the track becomes easier on your ears and one can often sing along.

5) But then the rapper kicks back in with more pointless ramblings, breaking up the brief moment of musicality of the track. Now he pretends to be even tougher and his voice gets more urgency.

6) Repeat chorus. But this time the producer puts the rappers voice between the singers lines. This usually highlights the vast level of talent that bridges between the singer and rapper, but for some reason they continue to do it.

7) Fade out.


Videos are slightly more entertaining because there are usually girls shaking their asses, but for the most part, it's just a bunch of idiots posing in the age old way, bent over looking down at the camera, shaking a finger or two, looking angry and roided up.

I thought for sure this would have died out by now, but with kids like Dwight having no better music to strive towards, I guess I can understand why musical standards are so low today.
