Mount Vernon High school 2nd grades distribution for this school year. Keep in mind students are no longer getting anything lower than a 53% in any assingment

I can't wait till they take the SOL EXAMS...

MS.King is going to be like "IT was because of the snow days".....
But then ALL other school will have good scores.
I think Ms.King is a nice lady, nice principal, but she should work at an Elementary school where EVERYONE PASSES.........
Ms.King I would love you again if you changed the grading system from 53-63 F to 0-63= F

You'd think Ms. King might have inspired you into a career in education rather than trying to be a server at Ford's Fish Shack.

Even if people who used to get Fs now get Ds, they still suck and won't know enough to pass the SOL... 53 or 0, failure is failure.

What's with the obsession with MVHS and their F policy? I've seen this posted about more than once on this board. Most FCPS schools have gone to a no zero policy. It's county wide.

Why a no zero policy? Are we just coddling our kids and inflating their grades?

I graduate Last year, and she changed the final grades from Average calculation too Quality points which boots my final grades by a level grade. I think she has a no zero policy because they still had way too many F's at the end of the school year. I am not sure I am waiting for a FOIA report from last year 2nd quarter grades so we can see the difference from then and now. Like I said I respect the principal but I wish she would go back to 0-63 and grades and calculate final grades from Average Calculation and not Quality total points.

but the lowest for an F is 53% so if you scored a 2/10 for example, that still goes down as a 53% so there's no difference.

But that would be a 53% F now the other way will be 20% F
lets say he gets 2 more assignments
7/10 and 7/10
16/30 =53%F the old grading system
19.3/30 64.4 D the new system. now understand how it changes when you add more assessments? I wouldn't mind if at the end of the marking period the lowest score a student can earn was a 53% F but not every single assignment
example end of quarter students has 40%F changed it to 53%F im ok with that. but not ok with the way they are doing it
