David Messerschmitt - What happened?

So this dude leaves work at 5:30 near metro center and texts his wife at 7:30 to say he'll be home soon, but doesn't make it home.

Instead, he's found dead in a Logan Circle hotel room from stab wounds.

I can only conclude that he was trying to get some strange on the side and the deal went bad and he lost his life.
