0 degree F windchill = late start at a minimum. Id bet on a 2 hr delay with slight possibility of cancellation. Mostly tomorrow its the wind that will be the determining factor. If its blowing count on a late start.

Fairfax County kids don't stand outside waiting for the school bus (in any weather). They wait in their parents' cars. The only reason they ride the bus at all is the parents don't want to deal with the Kiss n' Ride lines at school.

Ever wonder why the school bus takes so long to load? Well, the kids have to kiss mommy or daddy goodbye, get out of up to a dozen or more cars, stroll to the bus, and once on board, argue about who is sitting next to who. Then and only then do the flashing red lights go out.

However, if it's as cold as they're saying, you can count on LOTS of the junk buses not starting. If they delay or close, that will be the reason. It's cheaper than fixing all those old buses.

Some kids do get driven to the bus stop but certainly not the majority. We walk to the bus stop (yes I walk with my kid at 630 am - sue me). There are 14 kids at our stop and the most Ive seen is 4 kids from 3 cars on the coldest of mornings. Id say the average is 2 cars in the winter or during rain. Its usually parents on their way to work so they just hang with the kids for a few moments.

The bus usually loads the 14 kids and is moving in under a minute. I see it every morning and it is usually about one minute. In our case the bus arrives at 6:38 and leaves at 6:39 So in conclusion you are ignorant about the bus loading.

We have really good kids and drivers in our school. Not sure why you are so jaded and difficult about how they board buses or by the fact some parents drop their kids off on the way to work. Sounds like your life sucks or something like that...

I don't see us getting a two-hour delay and that's probably why they're taking so long to make the announcement. It's feel like 0-4 degrees still by 10am so...

They don't issue a wind chill advisory in North Dakota until it hits -25 degrees

I usually see several cars waiting at multiple bus stops along my commute to work. I actually posted here asking why parents were doing that, even on nice days.

I was shocked to pass what appeared to be two elementary school aged kids waiting outside at a bus stop this morning. I'm not sure if one was even wearing a coat.

Try this: Sunday- Snow with areas of blowing snow before noon, then snow likely with areas of blowing snow between noon and 4pm, then areas of blowing snow and a chance of snow after 4pm. The snow could be heavy at times. High near -9. Strong and damaging winds, with a north wind 90 to 95 mph, with gusts as high as 110 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

As we waited for the cold, the bus came 15 minutes late with the spic driver saying something about the bus struggling to start in the cold.

Of course the one day where school would be definitely cancelled...we have a holiday. What a waste.
