Politico is reporting that Warner (D-VA) as pledged to vote with 54 Republicans and at least 5 other Democrats to support the pipeline in spite of the fact that President Obama has promised to veto the bill.

Out of political concerns. If republicans spent half as much time on this one pointless project as they did actually governing I might return to a party affiliation.

Umm, it's exactly the third day they've held power and they've worked on other things as well. Besides, you don't like shovel ready jobs?

4000 construction jobs for an average of 6 months, followed by 50. We have 50,000 construction jobs possible if Congress would pass a gas tax increase tied to real infrastructure instead.

What else do you stupid Republicans have? You've promised to better the economy for six years and all you have done is push a tar sands pipeline that will create 25 permanent jobs?

Don't debate the stupid pipeline to me. Take your stupid pipeline. What is your economic agenda?

Honestly, if republicans want the keystone, how about some compromise. We'll give you keystone, you give minimum wage increase or gas tax. Otherwise, shut the fuck up, no one but your oil lobbyists give a fuck about keystone. The american people dont give a fuck. First you said it was to lower gas prices. Guess what gas prices aren't controlled by that, and it went down when china stopped using as much. Now you say it will increase gas prices, not sure why that is a good thing for most of your constituents. The truth is, it has nothing to do with gas, it has to do with a near trillion dollar bet by oil execs in alberta that they will do anything to control the US government, including helping to get citizens united through, to see come through.

So have it. I dont give a fuck, but I wont give up on it without compromise elsewhere. I support the president continuing to veto your dumb hick ass.

If you dumb fucks hadnt shut down the government last winter, something the business community screamed bloody murder over, we'd have more jobs. Government shouldn't create jobs, but having the right elements in place does and unlike the doom sayers like Paul Ryan, under Obama and a democratic senate, the economy has done quite well, not fallen into distopia.

Republicans don't like jobs at all unless they come with drastic reductions in workplace and environmental safety standards. And of course, the Keystone XL is a big fat zero when it come to jobs in comparison to what the stimulus bill's 90,000 infrastructure projects provided. Republicans claimed those jobs didn't exist. Asshole old white men speak with forked tongue.

Obama doesn't want the pipeline for environmental voter and donor base reasons.

Fixed it for you.

So true. Obama and the libs have been able to slow down this pipeline construction because it crosses the northern border, but have been unable to stop 2,000 miles of other pipeline building within the US over the past 6 years.

They also slowed offshore drilling to a significant extent.

But not fracking... states rights got in the way. Though lib states like New York are losing out on that opportunity.

Since the private investors are willing to fund Keystone, and it passed all the environmental tests and reviews, there is only one issue remaining: whether the route can go through an Indian reservation.

Only political posturing keeps the pipeline from being built, like the third lane of I-66 and I-395 through Arlington County, on a bigger scale.

Most ironic is that we might see $1.99 gas despite Obama and the libs efforts to stop it, which will strengthen the economy and help Hillary win election next year.
