Untimely closure of Fairfax Schools

We were not aware of the school closing as the email was sent at 7:30 am in the morning on January 8th. The information should have been provided earlier as students waited for school buses that never came. Therefore the entire excuse of closing the school was backfired and contrary to what was mentioned.

Second mistake in a week..........

High school in FCPS wasn't supposed to start until 9:20 today due to the delay. Are you telling us that you/your student get picked up TWO HOURS before school starts - 5:20am normally? I understand the parents of ES aged SACC students who were driving in and trying to drop off their kids at 7am being upset, but my high schooler wasn't even awake until right before 8am this morning, well after the announcement went out on all media sources.

No, the problem is that we didn't expect the schools to close at the last minute and had never received the second message about closure ! No offense meant.

The other posters point was your full of it since school was supposed to be 2 hours late as of last night, so kids shouldn't have been out waiting at normal times.

I do agree that it was crappy that they waited until 7ish to send an email. I saw the crawler on NBC just before 7. Shouldn't emails to parents be sent earlier?

Why the fuck would you check your email to know about the closing first?
Just quit being a dumb fuck and check the FCPS site...
Pretty sure they'd post it on the FCPS site first

The problem for some seems to be that although FCPS make schedule change notices known and available immediately via every imaginable different means, it is till possible to be dumb or lazy enough not to know about them. Nice.

Get over it. I woke up at 5 am expecting the decision to be made and there was none until my mom told me we had no school right before I took a shower.
