Arctic cold weather, snow take aim at D.C. area for Tuesday
Jan 5, 2015 04:09 PM
Clouds will increase overnight as a fast moving Alberta Clipper zips in from the west. Lows will be in the 20s with colder spots well to the west in the mountains. Look for snow to develop after midnight from west to east. Timing won't be on our side when it comes to the morning rush. Area roadways are likely to become snow covered allowing for travel and school delays. About an inch accumulation is a safe bet in the District and around the Beltway with localized areas seeing a bit more. Higher amounts are possible to the north and west of D.C., especially in western Maryland and West Virginia. The good news - everything should be out of here by the midday hours as a push of cold air arrives. Highs will be in the 30s.
