Officers distributed safety fliers to residents and motorists along Little River Turnpike between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 in an effort to increase pedestrian safety in Fairfax County. Another team of officers will target the education/enforcement effort on Leesburg Pike on Friday, November 21 during the same timeframe. The goal of the initiative is to target pedestrians not using crosswalks and raise awareness among drivers to the dangers of pedestrians crossing roadways during hours of darkness.

The jaywalkers weaving through traffic at night, 50% of the time dressed in all black, and popping out from behind cars that I've seen have been exclusively 1. elderly Koreans (one man who had to have been senile straight up stepped in front of my car near the car wash on 236 when I was going 35 in live traffic, which even when you're not distracted is scary as fuck). 2. Latinos, including women with children 3. African men--no one country group. The Africans will weave through moving traffic specifically, which seems to suggest it's what they're used to doing from overseas.
Everyone else who walks or has to jaywalk, does so reasonably.
The cops need to not be politically correct if they're sick of this shit like everyone else.
The only time it was a white person I saw was a white woman getting off bus on Braddock during rush hour and walking crosswalk because one truck stopped for her even though traffic was moving, so she pops out from the blind spot. Also saw a similar thing happen to an elderly black lady in Annandale but even though she popped out too, the other car wasn't paying attention at all, and was driven by Latina.

Lollers for peps in Tysons Corner - you have to hike a 1/2 mile to find a crosswalk to cross Leesburg Pike there. The monstrosity that is the above ground Metro has made what was a pedestrian unfriendly place into a place only the Jetsons could get around...

The police have nothing better to do in Mason Station. The Captain there is an idiot if that is all they have to address.........
