SO, your a mechanic and you roll a tire. it stops before you take your hand off of it. REASON?
CHINESE break calipers (replacement or new).
and they're really expensive for customers to replace - so you can't "fail them for not rolling". THIS MEANS MANY CARS ON THE ROAD WITH DRAGGING BREAKS. i can't as a mechanic say "hey i feel allot of drag on this - you need all new breaks". simply put: boss won't let me - because MANY OF THEM DO THAT. also i can't expect the new ones might not be dragging after a short period - therefore i'd be lying if i said the problem was "corrected". (yes, for badly dragging ones a mechanic will "kinda insist on a change" that customers often refuse anyway - despite the vast un-safety of the situation)
DRAGGING BREAKS also heats up brake fluid more quickly and turns it brown more quickly - damaging the breaks further.
THAT'S NOT ALL. you know chinese militarize attacks on USA. they corrupt the parts systems so that your brake DISC is of unknown width when replaced and LIE WHEN THEY SELL CALIPERS so that it's unknowable even if you buy the right one if it fits the original/factory-new disc. this causes dragging from the get go even before dirt settles in.
(older?) german made cars are also terrible at this - many had problems dragging and repair costs allot higher, and oldo volvo idk

they also changed WHEEL BEARINGS from simple balls (almost fun to service) that rolled freely to SEALED BEARINGS which are a bitch to service. this also causes in-efficiency and people avoiding friction correction due to price and cost

California told you "emmissions laws" - BUT THEY WERE FRONTING FOR CHINESE - they knew MAG wheels were heavy, they knew emissions parts didn't actually work and they KNEW that dragging breaks were a big problem and KNEW sealed bearings "weren't going to be better really" but made in china allot more expensive
(vapor emissions about 100 more chinese parts that add weight cost and repair complexity which another FFU article debunks as non-efficent and a loss)
