Special Agent Mike Dick and Special Agent Bruce K help free kidnaped girl from terrorist cell on the border of Afghanistan / Pakistan CIRCA 2003.
At the request of the U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, a Special Agent of the FBI while in Karachi, Pakistan is abruptly ordered off the Daniel Pearl Investigation as a favor to Pakistani President Musharaf. The daughter of Musharaf’s closest personal friend, a physician was just kidnapped for ransom and taken into Afghanistan. Musharaf has over thirty thousand PK law enforcement and military looking for one American adult male. Musharaf, “Surely, Mrs. Ambassador you can spare us one FBI Agent to help us get Ambreen back?” She is held for ransom just miles from intense fighting between U.S. Forces and Al-Qaida during the military operation known as Anaconda.
The FBI Agents in this remote town of Quetta, filled with Aq-aida member in the thousands who field the U.S. B 52 strikes in the mountains. Mike and Bruce devise numerous courses of action to recommend to the Pakistani’s. Their investigative suggestions are linked to a clear tactical plan which with a clear understanding of the political situation.
• The courier leaves with the ransom bag on a motor bike with the transponder on. He heads toward the Pakistani border with Afghanistan.
• A small convoy of 15 Pakistani follow in commercial vehicles.
• The Pakistani Government and the leading PK law enforcement officer will not cross into Afghanistan without U.S. permission.
• Using his personal cell phone, Mike telephones the U.S. based tracking center in Hawaii and asks them to track the bag and give him periodic updates on its location.
• Mike relays this info to the Pakistanis following the courier.
• Unable to get official permission to cross into Afghanistan, the daring PK Inspector General orders his men across the border confident that if they get into a jam, the FBI will get them out.
• Along the planned route into Afghanistan, the courier was approached by one of the kidnappers a predetermined location.
• He jumps onto the back of the motor bike, points a pistol at the head of the courier and tells him to drive. They travel for 20 miles down a winding dirt road with the law enforcement convoy just behind them over the horizon.
• At a distance, the convoy commander sees the motorbike veer off the road and onto a dirt trail. He decides to the courier will be killed and the ransom taken.
• Pakistani law enforcement struggle to keep up with the speeding motorbike. Their team leader stares at the small screen on his tracking device and yells to the driver to; “speed-up we are loosing them.” They realize that at any moment they can loose the signal. He orders the fastest vehicle to the front of the convey and directs it to take-out both the motor bike while trying not to seriously injure them. The lead vehicle driven by a very talented chief of detective for the city of Quetta drove stock cars on weekends while studding at the University of Alabama while in the U.S. He punches the gas pedal to the floor and speeds toward the motorbike he notices the driver racing toward a very narrow path going uphill with rocks on either side which will be impossible for the convoy to follow. He manages to get along side the motorbike then as nudges it off the road. The bike spills out and both men go flying through the air. The men in the convoy leave their vehicles and race toward the kidnaper. The see him reaching for what they believe is a rock next to him on the ground but it is a hand grenade. The Kidnapper pulls the pin and throws the grenade. It fails to detonate because the spoon was rusted to the grenade. Jump on top of the kidnaper just as he his about to throw a second grenade; they drag him to the vehicles. The currier is badly bruised and cut but not injured.
The kidnapper is taken to small village down the road and interviewed for about two hours. Fearful that the tribal leaders from the region he is from will take revenge against his family for what he has done, he tells the Pakistanis where Ambreen is being held then leads them there..
They arrive and find an empty mountain hide-out. The search for about an hour for any sign of life and collect any evidence possible which can help them find the little girl. Then just before they decide to leave, they notice a small figure on the horizon walking toward them. One officer says it is the local goat herder but as the approaching figure gets closer they notice it is a little girl. The courier (house servant to Ambreen) recognizes that it is her and runs toward her. They embrace and she begins to cry.
The kidnapers were apparently tipped -off that the rescue party was on its way and decided to flee without harming Ambreen.
• Ambreen is rescued, the kidnappers are captured or killed and the ransom money is returned to her father.
