My seniors photos where taken at the high school, we had to pay for a sitting fee. What I do not understand is why the least expensive photo package is more than $150 and the price of 1-8x10 is more than $60. Why are they so much more expensive than the school photo packages -- it is the same company and same photos!

Here, let me get you a tissue. Let's make sure we understand you correctly. You live in one of the most affluent areas of the world, and your winning over 150 smackaroos? Seriously, how many times did you complain about that 7 dollar bs coffe you have every day? Wake up, sniff that coffee a little deeper. Breath in. Hold it. Hold it. Breath out. They are snapping it of in you for only one reason. Ready for it? Wait. Wait... Here it comes....... BECAUSE THEY CAN! There, serious answer, that is why.

Now have sone deep reflection. Go to Walmart and pay 10 bucks for the pictures.

P.S. Please donate the money I just save you to a whatever school you graduated from. Anything might help them improve. Lol!

OP - I agree - the senior portraits are way over-priced. I did end up buying a few, but it did make me sick. I brought up the cost to other people and they seemed to think that's just the way it is... You might try a portrait studio around town and see what they can do for you.

And for the grammar patrol out there... Get a life for God's sake. Get over yourselves...

Do not buy the senior photos now. The price will come WAY down. They were still sending us emails to buy a week before my daughter graduated last year. They make it sound like it is urgent that you pay now, but don't. Wait a couple of months. The same for the pictures Lifetouch took at graduation. They were great photos of her shaking the principal's hand, but we are still getting emails to buy those, and she graduated in June. It is a marketing ploy to get you to pay full-price now. Just wait and save a lot of money. I wish someone had told us this last year. Ask any parent who has already had a senior graduate.

Ask around. At my kids school they had the option to have senior portraits done elsewhere, and those pictures were also used in the yearbook.

The advantage of lifeTouch was that they shot the pictures at the school. The trade off was that the school took a chunk from the sales, which drives the prices up.

The official picture for the ID card and the yearbook can be taken at school for no charge - (one pose) or minimal for more than one. The company provides the drape and tux and cap and gown. It is convenient. The purchased senior portrait is on heavier paper and often is retouched unlike the underclass pictures. These are the only pictures used in the yearbook. I suggest parents go to Walmart or Penny's for more affordable packages if they care to do so.
