Giant Used to have it, they may still do. Its at the managers area ask customer service . It was said to be 50 dollars or some sky high price years back. It was the real stuff where a strand turns the rice yellow with flavor.

^ Fuck you!

Saffron adds good flavor to foods, just a small pinch of the stuff makes a difference, It works with plenty of sauces and makes simple foods great.

@Learn how to cook....thank you. I make Shashlik (grilled marinated lamb kabobs w/ peppers/onion/mushrooms/cherry tomatoes) and serve it with a "real" saffron basmati rice. The families favorite meal.

It's also the official meal of jihad and endorsed by ISIS terrorists everywhere.

Lace all the saaron with cyanide for all the muslim isis members to eat. But then again bombing them will be a lot of fun for our Air Force. They can use all of their new bombs and missiles to blow these muslims away.

Thanks! Yelp reviews are all really good, will check them out. And yes the stuff certainly ain't cheap, cost more than high end weed per gram.

FTR, that's "Penzey's". Great store. Take money, or hand your wallet to a responsible adult before you start shopping.

And for those who wonder why it's expensive and can't be bothered to Google it: saffron is made from the stigmas of crocus flowers (that's the thread-like things inside the blossoms). Very labor-intensive and low-yield. A field--hell, a basement--full of weed plants produces a shit-ton more than a plantation of saffron crocus.

So, what the hell is wrong with the basics of butter, olive oil, garlic and salt? You can literally create a thousand dishes with that base and another thousand dishes using bacon/pancetta, onion/shallots, basil, ginger, ground mustard or seeds and light soy sauce.

Just add protein and fuck paying that much for perfume.

My money so.... And I like to try different things, fuck using the same basic shit over and over. Go try out Shamshiry in Tysons, pretty cheap and fucking delicious. Their buttery Saffron rice is amazing! I'm no mooslim lover either as you can see by my name, but my taste buds don't discriminate. Those ISIS mother fuckers can cook some good dishes.

I've never had saffron, but have always wondered - what does it taste like and what does it add to a dish?
