fcps is creating quite the controversy this week..so please, share your thoughts and opinions--parents, taxpayers--we re all impacted..
(a brief summary of the week)
aka::welcome to battle of the facts!!
by now we can pretty much assume that regardless of the weather tomorrow morning--it is highly likely fcps will remain closed the rest of the week.. 'sidewalks are still covered' will be the justification..
today s decision made all of our skepticism valid...we all agree that schools should have been open today...
so what the hell is going on??!!
1) any kid who was tested for covid at a fcps site, his/her test results are being reported to his/her school--hippa violation??!! nope, because you sign a waiver when you get tested.. so every school knows how many students are tested and turn up positive... and the numbers are EXPONENTIAL..
2)the staff is going to work and are actively working on plans for a possible virtual learning situation and are specifically addressing individual students' needs (particularly those who are struggling significantly and had the worst experience with vl)
3) many parents are rightfully arguing for a return to virtual learning while fcps rightfully counters with the extreme negative effects (of vl) on kids mental health and academic performance--hence the decision to keep kids in class..

As far as an educational system in concerned, the FCPS is circling the drain. It's sad how such a group of people could turn the county school system in a period of 25 years from one of the best to one of the worst.

just realized that they closed school on friday as well!!
totally predictable.. i just wish the superintendent had the balls to make a statement validating the public s skepticism...we all know the weather excuse is a facade..
