My friend overdosed on his apartment.
The police asked his folks if they want to continue the investigation and oh yeah it will be 5k. Is this right?

Sorry about your friend - doesn’t say if they died or not.

If it’s a clear case of overdose, then I don’t think taxpayer money should be spent investigating. There are thousands upon thousands of drug users in the area, we should be putting a stop to the dealers, not using resources to follow up on people so stupid that they overdosed.
