I gave up watching and supporting all sports

I'm in my early 50s and have been a die-hard sports fan since before I was a teenager. Hockey and football were my favorites but if it was on TV and involved competition I was interested (heck, I'd watch college gymnastics, figure skating, the Olympics, women's soccer!).
I had to drop the CLOSE following of a few sports after entering the work force (sorry NBA and MLB) and then a few more after kids (sorry NASCAR, golf, tennis and college basketball).
It was probably around 2005-2008 when ESPN and some of the major networks started injecting politics into their commentary. It was so fucking irritating and unnecessary. I guess I just tried to ignore it but eventually ESPN turned into a 24-7 left-wing political talk show. Finally couldn't take it anymore and completely stopped watching the network.
The NFL campaign against toughness and hard hitting that started in 2010 also certainly decreased my interest there. Well, then came the kneeling and virtue-signaling and more politics.
I continued watching my sports and going to some games.
Then came the anti-Trump shit. Don't get me wrong - I am not a Trump supporter and I can surely understand why people got triggered by the blowhard but when you are covering it non-stop everywhere else why ruin my sports break with that garbage? I came up with a list of about 10 key words or phrases and if any of them were uttered during a game I was watching I would just turn the TV off and go do something else.
Then came the George Floyd and BLM riots. I saw my favorite players and teams promoting rioting and lawlessness and wearing the names of convicted rapists at sporting events. Sports media and sports business turned into support for a political movement. An authoritarian communist political movement.
This was too much. I just stopped. I have not consumed 1 second of sports news since June of 2020. Did not watch 1 game, did not open 1 app, read one story, watch 1 replay, listen to 1 second of sports talk. No purchase of any gear, no purchase of any tickets (well, wasn't much available anyway), did not watch any playoffs, not 1 fantasy sports league, no March Madness brackets, did not watch the NFL draft. For the first time since 1979 I did not watch the Super Bowl.
I have loved every minute of my free time and I am done. Not going back. Will not miss it. I will be selling all my memorabilia, ephemera, media guides, etc., etc. Sports were an major part of my life for over 30 years and I have many fond memories of the excitement - big wins and close losses. Great memories of how it was. Truly regrettable how the progs have destroyed yet another thing that was great about America.
I am sure the sports leagues and businesses don't give even the slightest of fucks about losing my interest and that's fine. I haven't lobbied anyone to follow my lead and I really don't care if people follow sports or not. That's their business.
What I am curious about is if anyone else has just found sports to be to political and annoying to follow anymore? Am I the only person that moved on? It's not like there aren't many other things out there competing for people's time. Perhaps it was all childish and I should have been doing something else the entire time. After all, I once calculated that I was watching 6 days of TV during the NHL playoffs alone.
