With conceal permits so easy to obtain in The Commonwealth, why carry a pistol on one's hip?

I don't get it. Is it to show they have some sort of power? Or to just show they "can"?

the point of having a gun is to not let anyone know you have a gun. so that if they try to do something to you you have the upper hand and can surprise the fuck out of them.

Exactly, these guys like to dress up in their cammo costumes, call themselves patriots, and carry a rifle around. It's because they are losers in their regular life, uneducated, dead end jobs, not getting laid. They feel the need to "belong" so they envision themselves as tough guys by carrying a rifle. Take the rifle away and they'd run away like a little girl if challenged.

The guy was with a woman and a kid. Assuming he didn't kidnap them and she was with him and the kid was theirs, he must've gotten lucky at least once in life.

Anyways, it was a pistol in a small holster (large framed semi automatic pistol, which looked out of place). Normal street clothes.

Agree, point of concealed carry is to NOT let anyone know you have the firepower.

I was conceal carrying all-day sat & sun. There was no fear but, rather a feeling of freedom. The gun didn't shoot anyone and no one knew I was carrying. I might be right behind you sometime later today and you should feel more safe that I'm there. I will protect my life with lethal force in the event a lunatic starts shooting and therefore, protect your too.

I, for one feel safer with anyone I see open carrying.

Who cares what you think or that you're openly judging that person. If you don't like guns, don't get one.

I open carry sometimes because I don't have a cc. Never bothered to go through the process. Have you looked at the application? Who has time for all that bullshit?

Perhaps person didn’t have a permit to conceal. I think it’s legal to open carry in Virginia, permit or not.

That is true of about 90% of gun people.

Even with CCW so I and other retired cops can't carry in parks either I'll open carry my locked and loaded 45 auto openly and get my exercise walking around in the public shopping centers with high end grocery stores with mucho liberal customers and sidewalks where the blue no hate signs are up

I love seeing Americans out in public but at the same time there are a lot of democats. When a democat sees an American they may not commit a crime, which is a plus. However, I'd love to see more democrats getting shot by Americans when they are being themselves and hurting people in public. I don't want Americans to be hurt but I do want democats to be eliminated from the gene pool. Only peace and prosperity for humanity would follow. Without democats, Americans don't need guns.

What an incredibly stupid thing to do. You could have shot him, yourself, or some other innocent person. Additionally, if you tried that with someone who actually knew how to handle a firearm there is a large likely hood that something would happen to you. Just dumb.
