Watts, a Democrat from Fairfax, wanted to ensure people using streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBOGo, Spotify, AppleMusic, etc. paid taxes on the services, like you do on your cable bill! Luckily, the bill was killed in committee!

Cable tv is taxed and streaming video needs to be taxed too. It will happen nationwide in a year or two.

Vivian Watts gets big campaign donations from the Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association, Comcast, Verizon, AT&T, etc.
In fact, as an industry, the telecommunications industry is only second to trial lawyers.
Those lobbyists expect something for their money and Vivian is obviously happy to oblige.

Streaming video services are not utilities. They also are not required to pay a cable television franchise fee to localities which is passed on to the customer.

I love to watch movies and our family even has a tradition, we always have dinner together every night and watch a movie. My wife loves detective stories and horror, and I love melodramas and comedies! But our problem was that popular movie platforms didn't suit us. There is too limited range of films. I sometimes watch movies in other languages, but not all platforms offer this option. But we found a way out of this situation and now watch movies on the Binmir platform. This is a very cool offer, the range of movies is just huge. We signed up for this platform a year ago and we don't regret it at all!
