If you limit the number of posts/replies from an IP address, this might decrease the spam postings. Maybe linit to 5 or 10 an hour per IP adress?

a suggestion:

Cloudflare lets you block a broad range of IPs very easily, I use cloudflare for all my sites and have no trouble blocking the junk.
