Gun control may not be the winning issue the Sullivan campaign wants it to be

The Blue Virginia uber-leftie political blog has had not one, not two, but three postings over the past few weeks on how Republican 48th House District special-election candidate Dave Foster has a right-wing agenda when it comes to guns.
Fair enough: While only the truly politically deranged believe Foster is a rabid rightie, he indeed did have to tack to the right in 2009 when he unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for state attorney general. And, this being the modern era, some of those statements were caught on video. So he will have to explain them to voters.
What’s more interesting, however, is that in those three postings at Blue Virginia (known to the Democratic establishment as “the echo chamber”), there was not a single response from any of its followers.
Hmmmm, if even the progressive wing of the Democratic Party isn’t getting worked up over statements made by Foster in a primary campaign five years ago, does anyone think special-election voters are going to care too much? Probably not.
