Man injures leg fending off dogs in Vienna

A resident living in the 1000 block of Fairway Drive, N.E., told Vienna police on July 4 at 6:04 p.m. that he had been walking his dog when two small dogs began chasing him.

He and his dog were not bitten by the other dogs, however, but he injured his leg while trying to run from them. The man refused medical assistance, police said.

Police located the other dogs’ caretaker in the 400 block of Old Courthouse Road, N.E. She told police the dogs’ owner was out of town and believed the dogs “may have dug a hole in order to make great their escape from the confines of the fenced yard,” police said.

A Vienna animal-control officer will follow up on this case, police said.

If the guy had just tied mattresses around his legs, as many Vienna residents do, he would never have injured his leg..

Just saying..

Those animals should be destroyed. There is no excuse for aggressive dogs. Had they come after me,
I would have killed them with no remorse and then sued the owner. I am so sick of dog owners who don't train their dogs.

How can you make light of this situation? By the way, Vienna has only four mattress stores in the entire town.

Don't hide your light under a mattress...Vienna is the Mattress Capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia, if not the entire East Coast...be proud!

There are more mattress stores in Sterling than there are in Vienna.

It is situations such as this that remind me not to go running without something that will kill a dog of any size, like a sharp knife.

Take back the night!

I'm a chick and am inspired by a female friend who killed a dog with the knife she kept on her for protection - an unleashed dog charged after her (on a public road) and she had the forbearance of thought to whip out her hunting knife and, well, let's just say that there's one less dangerous dog running at large.
