Brabrand and FCPS introduce a merit based lottery
Posted by: TJ Parent ()

Classic double speak from FCPS. Is it merit based or is it a lottery? Watch the #1 high school rating in the US drop out of the top ten. 2024 will be the last graduating class where the Thomas Jefferson High School name will mean anything. Assuming the board doesn't change the name first.

It will neither be "merit based" nor a lottery. How would doing a lottery get you the numbers of Blacks and Hispanics you need unless you are only sending the "lottery tickets" to those racial groups. A true blind lottery could result in more White students....heaven forbid!!! It is going to be a quota based system where the numbers will end up exactly where they want them. They will be hand selecting every student from now on regardless of their testing scores and other academic achievements. Yes. TJ is done for. The crown jewel of FCPS should just be turned back into a regular high school to serve the needs of all those in the community that immediately surround it.

TJ was good while it lasted, but you knew the libtards would fuck it up. There are plenty of private schools out there that will pick up the slack...and more coming.

I turned down Georgetown Prep and St. Albans to attend TJ.

Yup, it was good while it lasted.

It will be a very mediocre school after 2024.

Sad, but that’s America too, very mediocre after 2024.

TJ was not good while it lasted.

The idea behind TJ was a good one, creating a school for students who had a special interest in technology. In practice the admissions criteria used closed the door to most county students who had strong interests in technology. Its limited numbers, technology focus, hours and location in a corner of the County meant it never became THE school for elite Fairfax County students that it claimed. The school rapidly came to be considered the property of the FCAG group who were fine with its admissions policies until they were outmaneuvered by Asians who figured out how to better game the system. Plus the claim that the students were elite resulted in the assumption all those students who were admitted deserved to be there. This meant the school ended up having to offer additional services to students having trouble performing to adequate levels, and allowing students leeway that would never have been allowed in regular high schools.

In short TJ rapidly became its own special interest.

The school and its admissions policies have been in need of a radical restructuring for some time, and not simply because blacks and hispanics are underrepresented. This could be done without altering the quality of TJ graduates. Yes the current School Administration will fuck it up, but it was the refusal of those in control at TJ to make meaningful changes that made this step necessary.

I doubt your were ever there or know a thing about it.

In my graduating class alone there is now a black Stanford professor in computer science. You know how rare a black computer science professor is, for even the Stanford part??

Then I went to the Ivies after TJ and the blacks were all stupid morons. It wasn’t until I worked at a hedge fund that I met intelligent, high IQ, highly capable blacks again.

People like you want to dilute the talent and make everyone stupid. You don’t see blacks and the NBA Players Union wanting more white and Asian pro players by making it a lottery do you??

There is nothing that democrats can't fuck up. Remember that you stupid fucking dinks and dot-heads. You spent 10 years getting TJ to be your own private magnet school and the liberal assholes you helped elect have now fucked you in the ass. Are any of you smart enough to learn from you mistake?

Yep, the schools used to be controlled by a bunch of far right conservative women who wanted to burn books, now they are controlled by a bunch of far left liberal women who want to burn books. I'd get angry about it if school really mattered for long term success in life.

What’s the point of bringing savage blacks to TJ? Will they get bonus points on every exam for being black? Guaranteed they’ll suck all the teachers’ attention with discipline problems, and away from the smart kids. Is this like mainstreaming retarded kids at other public schools, for the kids to feel good about themselves? Stupid idea, even for fellow libs!

Can you please elaborate and provide explanation and examples of these? It would also be interesting to know what time period you refer to.

* offer additional services to students having trouble performing to adequate levels

* allowing students leeway that would never have been allowed in regular high schools.

Thanks.

This is Karen Keys Gamarra’s doing. She is a low IQ fool so of course she wants TJ to be about as rigorous as Annandale.

Putting your wannabe in with genius Asians is just going to demoralize your little monkey. Do you really want your spawn to be struggling with fractions while the other kids are moving beyond differential equations? How is that going to help anyone?

Please explain Wrote:

I tried to post a listing of links that you could check out, but even the shortened version was getting rejected. Here's a few brief examples.

Earlier this decade TJ and FCPS were embarrassed when word got out that a substantial number of TJ students required remediation. This was at a time when the number of Black, Hispanic and ESOL active students were minimal, so it can't be blamed on affirmative action. At first it was claimed that this simply was the result of TJ's demanding requirements, but eventually FCPS decided that TJ admissions standards needed to be more stringent.

TJ has its own summer school program. The official reason for this is that there are classes some TJ students could not fit into its own schedule, but TJ handbooks also indicate it can be used for students who didn't get perform adequately. TJ also allows students who didn't perform well to use an approved tutoring program.

A number of parents of TJ students over a number of years have told me about students who were half way through quarters and still hadn't turned in any work. Some of these TJ parents were the parents of the offending students. At other high schools this could get students booted from honors classes.

Fairfax offers certain classes online that are open to students from TJ as well as other students. A few years back there was a cheating scandal in one of these classes. It was originally announced that the offending students would be booted. When it was discovered that all offending students came from TJ it was determined that no action would be taken, but that test procedures for all students, not just the offending TJ students, would be changed.

In 2018 TJ reported 3% of its students were chronically absent.

1. Remediation was required when the entrance was made easy for class of 2015 to get more diversified kids into TJ. Lot of kids transferred back to base school, kids who couldnt get past C grade in Math got A grades in their base schools when they went back. With lottery, this will repeat with lottery.

2. A lottery is not incentive for the kids to study harder, they will be praying to get lucky.

Fuck Braband and FCPS and they all need to go.

We also have to remember some of these looser school board members using fucking pronouns in their bios. Besides the low IQ Keys Gamarra, we can’t forget about the retarded progressive Melanie Meren for introducing the made of holiday Indigenous Peoples Day.

There’s a reason Laura Ingraham makes fun of them on her show because they can’t their shit together, not the hijabi chick, not the he/him/his, and definitely our Superintendent who abuses the word equity in every presentation he gives. It’s time for a recall

Merit based. What a joke. Any kid with a brain would qualify under the new system.

I'm happy about it because I think TJ should be closed. Kids should go to their local school. There is no reason for a "super-school." So this should end it.

We must spread the word of Ruby Cockburn's crimes against nature all across NOVA. Hello fellow citizens of Northern Virginia, we are the PARC (People Against Ruby Cockburn). From what we've seen from the way people have been reacting, law enforcement isn't going to solve this problem. Ruby needs to either rot in jail or die.Justice will be served, this is for Keenan Peck who was framed for a crime he didn't commit, Katie Jobson who was harrassed by Ruby and Aaron Collins who was doxxed by Ruby on Twitter. Ruby will be dealt with by any means necessary.

@cockburn_ruby/r8n-a-tr0in-onme we will bring you to fucking jail and if you turn out to be a real person and everything about your family is true, we're going to kill you and the fucked up ass people who raised you into thinking sexual deviancy like pedophilia, necrophilia, incest, and zoophilia are okay.
